Tropico 20th Annivesary - Key Art

It’s been 20 years since the Tropico series first kicked off, and now, as the celebrations begin to take place, the team at Kalypso Media have started to push out a host of free content for players to enjoy.

Having first seen the Tropico series begin to roll out on April 21st 2001, with every iteration since then having built, expanded and enhanced on that which went before it, there’s a fair old chance that as a gamer you would have stumbled upon the franchise. With Tropico 6 the currently darling of El Presidente, that means there have been no less than six entries under the belt in the 20 years that have gone by.

And what better way to celebrate than to provide gamers with a host of free content. Should you have a copy of Tropico 6 rolling around your digital library – on either Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch or PC, you’ll discover access to a Piñata Llama hunt, new in-game decorations, fireworks and a sparkly golden palace for the player’s El Presidente or La Presidenta to call home. Yep, the streets will be celebrating today in Tropico – and every day until May 5th.

What’s more, if you don’t own the game then there has never been a better time to get in on the action as the price of the base game has been cut down massively across all formats, with Tropico 6 finding a place in the very latest Xbox Deals With Gold and Spotlight Sale for 20th-26th April 2021.

But that’s not all and with Kalypso Media also celebrating 15 years of being in the business (and having picked up Tropico from Tropico 3 onwards), the celebrations look set to continue as the year plays out.

The latest trailer down below will give insight into how things attempt to pllay out. As always, let us know your favourite Tropico moments by dropping in to the comments.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
