Vinebound Tangled Together – now available

Prepare for some botanical bedlam that will test your friendships in Vinebound: Tangled Together.

Vinebound: Tangled Together, a unique co-op roguelike action game, has sprouted onto Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S today.

Developed by Riftpoint / Strawbergo and published by Silesia Games, this title binds 1-2 players together with a magical vine, forcing coordination and chaos in equal measure as you battle hordes of enemies.

For the budget-friendly price of just ÂŁ4.19, Vinebound offers a fresh twist on the horde-survival roguelike genre. You and your partner aren’t just fighting side-by-side; you’re physically tethered, meaning every step and every attack must be coordinated. Can your teamwork survive the garden mayhem?

Bound by Fate, United in Combat

The core mechanic of Vinebound is the magical vine connecting the two players (or one player and an AI vine fairy in solo mode). This vine dictates your movement – stretch too far or get too close, and you’ll be snapped back, momentarily losing control.

Combat also relies on this connection. Attacks trigger via a “ping-pong cooldown” system – imagine a flower zipping along the vine; when it reaches a player, their attack fires. This requires timing, positioning, and constant communication (or frantic yelling) to effectively target enemies and unleash devastating combos.

Sounds intriguing? Well, we don’t think this is going to be topping Split Fiction in the co-op stakes, but it could well be worth a look.

Flavourful Builds and Chaotic Arenas

Like any good roguelike, building powerful combinations is key.

Vinebound offers “Flavourful Builds” using items like Pumpkin Bombs, Boomeringues, and blazing Spicy Sauces to create wild synergies. You’ll need these powerful loadouts to survive chaotic arenas filled with shifting lava walls, slippery ice floors, and tough elite enemies.

A Different Seed from Silesia Games

Publisher Silesia Games is often known for bringing a plethora of charming puzzle and hidden object games to Xbox, such as the popular Hidden Cats series or A Building Full of Cats.

Vinebound: Tangled Together marks an energetic shift, diving headfirst into the action-roguelike genre with a truly unique co-op concept developed by Riftpoint and Strawbergo.

Key Features

  • Unique Co-op Roguelike: 1-2 players bound by a magical vine.
  • Ping-Pong Cooldown Combat: Coordinate attacks based on the vine connection.
  • True Co-op (or Solo): Requires teamwork; solo mode features an AI partner.
  • Flavourful Builds: Combine items like Pumpkin Bombs and Spicy Sauces for wild effects.

Ready to Get Tangled In?

Vinebound: Tangled Together promises a fresh, frantic, and fun co-op roguelike experience unlike anything else. If you’re looking for a challenge that truly tests teamwork (or your ability to control two characters at once!), it’s available right now on the Xbox Store for just ÂŁ4.19, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

It also launches on PlayStation, PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch tomorrow, April 17th. Wherever you play, grab a friend (or brace yourself for solo coordination) and dive into the botanical mayhem! Stay tuned for our full review.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
