Pirate Trails – head to the high seas

Ahoy, mateys! Afil Games, the studio behind the recently released Bee Flowers, is setting sail with a new puzzle adventure and this one will send you off on some Pirate Trails.

Out now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC, Pirate Trails invites players to take on the role of a master cartographer and guide pirate ships through treacherous waters.

X Marks the Spot

In Pirate Trails, you won’t be swashbuckling or engaging in epic sea battles, save Skull and Bones for that. Instead, you’ll be charting the course for pirate ships, ensuring they collect all the treasure and safely reach their destination.

The gameplay revolves around rotating and swapping hexagonal tiles to create a clear path for the ships to navigate.

Check out our full review to find out how it all works.

Three Islands, 30 Challenges

The game features 30 challenging levels spread across three legendary pirate islands:

  • Port Royal: The starting point for every pirate adventure, where you’ll learn the ropes and hone your cartographic skills.
  • Tortuga: The difficulty ramps up as you navigate more treacherous waters and encounter new obstacles.
  • Nassau: Only the most cunning cartographers will reach this final island, where the most challenging puzzles await.

Pirate Trails captures the spirit of pirate adventure with its charming visuals and engaging gameplay. Collect all the treasure before docking your ship, avoid the clutches of the Kraken, and prove your worth as a master cartographer.

Key Features

  • 30 Challenging Levels: Test your puzzle-solving skills across three pirate islands.
  • Hexagonal Tile Puzzles: Rotate and swap tiles to create the perfect path for your pirate ships.
  • Variety of Challenges: Encounter new mechanics and obstacles as you progress.

Echoes of Bee Flowers

Pirate Trails shares a similar gameplay style with Afil Games’ recent release, Bee Flowers. Both games utilise hexagonal tile puzzles, requiring players to rotate and arrange pieces to create a path.

However, Pirate Trails adds a pirate theme and new challenges to the mix, offering a fresh experience for puzzle enthusiasts.

A Treasure Trove of Puzzles

If you’re a fan of puzzle games with a unique twist, Pirate Trails is worth charting a course for. With its charming visuals, challenging levels, and pirate-themed adventure, it’s sure to provide hours of brain-teasing fun.

So, grab your compass, set sail for adventure, and prove your cartographic skills in Pirate Trails. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download for an Xbox Series X|S Optimised edition for ÂŁ4.19. There’s also an Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S version, a bundle that brings together both of those, and another that adds in PC play for good measure.

It’s also on PlayStation and PC.

Pirate Trails Description

Arrr, mateys! Ready to set sail on an adventure full of challenges and treasures? In Pirate Trails, you are the master cartographer of the seven seas! But instead of sailing, your mission is to chart the best course for pirate ships to collect treasures and safely anchor at the final port. Rotate and swap hexagonal tiles to create the perfect route – but beware, a wrong path might lead your ship straight to the Kraken!
