Chornobyl Liquidators – available on Xbox, PlayStation and PC

Forget the horribly mutated creatures and supernatural entities that a lot of radioactive-themed titles have always placed front and centre (looking at you, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.). No, Chornobyl Liquidators – which has just released onto Xbox and PlayStation – is an incredibly realistic depiction of the Chornobyl disaster.

And it happens to put you right in the middle of it all…

Do the Dirty Work

Now available on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, Chornobyl Liquidators was first released on PC in June of 2024, as this first-person adventure from developers Live Motion Games and Frozen Way sees you take part in some very famous events from the 1986 radioactive explosion in Ukraine.

Firstly, you’ll be tasked in putting out the huge firestorm created on the night of the tragedy, before being whisked up to the roof of Unit 3’s turbine hall to shovel away graphite (any fans of HBO’s Chernobyl TV series will remember how stressful this is!), and everything in between.

Real stories, real people, and very real decisions to be made.

You see, your actions throughout Chornobyl Liquidators will have a major impact on how the story pans out, and especially what comes of the many groups of people in the game. Do you sacrifice the needs of your family in pursuit of uncovering answers? Or do you sit back, do what you are told, and become evermore suppressed by the KGB?

Chornobyl Liquidators Game Description

Chornobyl Liquidators is not a fantastic tale of exploring the Zone. It’s a story about real people facing a real threat — the CNPP disaster. Invisible radiation, KGB, difficult moral choices… Do you have enough courage and strength to take on this challenge?

On April 26, 1986, the largest nuclear disaster in human history occurred. As a result of the explosion and destruction of reactor number 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, a massive amount of radioactive isotopes were released into the atmosphere. Squads of liquidators were sent out to combat this invisible and deadly enemy. They were not heroes, yet they were called upon to perform heroic deeds. Many of them paid with their own health, and even their lives…
