GNAW – coming to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC in 2026

The prehistoric is colliding with the post-apocalyptic in a deliciously chaotic new side-scrolling adventure – GNAW.

Redstart Interactive has announced GNAW, a pre-apocalyptic action-adventure platformer that will be investigating the end of an era on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and Linux in 2026.

Revealed with a brand-new trailer, this unique title thrusts you into an intricate cityscape as an insatiable raptor, promising fluid movements, seamless improvisational combat, and a whole lot of chomping.

For those eager to get a taste of the action, a demo is available to play now on Steam.

New Dino City’s Catastrophic Collapse

The premise of GNAW is wonderfully absurd.

A last-ditch effort to curb dinosaurs’ cannibalistic urges goes horribly wrong when a “MEATeor” crashes into New Dino City. This sends its residents into a primal, feral state they had suppressed for millions of years.

You play as Ripley, an insatiable raptor who is the sole survivor of a transformative experiment. Armed with a raging and ever-evolving appetite, you must romp across these mean streets, chomping on enemies to refuel your abilities and uncover the secrets of a city on the brink of total collapse.

GNAW promises a dynamic mix of skilful manoeuvres and aggressive, improvisational combat, all within a seamlessly interconnected cityscape.

Master Ripley’s Moveset

Ripley boasts a fluid moveset that allows for both agile traversal and brutal combat. You’ll be able to bounce to reach new heights, spit shots to take down enemies from a distance, and dip out of harm’s way with ease. Chomping on your foes will refuel these abilities, providing you with more projectile slugs, health, and new moves.

The city’s vast network of interconnected regions is yours to explore, filled with hidden lore, simmering unrest, and primal intentions. You’ll navigate these diverse environments, battling intimidating bosses in locations like the seedy Underbelly and the overcrowded Sky Square.

And to help you survive, Ripley comes equipped with a trusty array of unique weapons, including gobshots, boombasts, and gumbooms.

A Word From the Developer

The lone developer behind Redstart Interactive, Jon Lawitts, has poured his passion for classic action games and rich storytelling into GNAW.

GNAW combines strong and dynamic combat encounters reminiscent of classic ‘90s mainstays with a lore-rich world full of societal unrest,” says Jon Lawitts, Developer, Redstart Interactive. “This deinonychus will traverse 7 different regions, each with its own distinct landscapes and platforming challenges, while fending off feral critters and vengeful scientific experiments.

The end of the world has never looked so deliciously chaotic. With its unique premise, fluid movement, and a blend of classic action with a deep, lore-rich world, GNAW is shaping up to be a truly unforgettable action-adventure.

Keep an eye on this one as it makes its way to Xbox and other platforms in 2026.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
