Some puzzle games clearly explain the rules within minutes. Chroma Zero seems far more interested in letting players figure things out for themselves.

Now available on Xbox Series X|S, this abstract exploration puzzler from ekorz drops players into a connected world filled with shifting spaces, strange energy and environmental puzzles woven directly into the world itself.

There are no separated levels here. No obvious structure either. Just colour, movement and a world that changes when you least expect it.

A World Designed Around Curiosity

Chroma Zero places emphasis on exploration and discovery, encouraging players to experiment with the environment and slowly understand how its systems interact.

Admittedly slightly lacking in info, at least according to the game description, the world itself exists in a fragile balance shaped by colour, energy and movement. Puzzles are not isolated away inside separate challenge rooms either, instead embedded naturally throughout the environment, meaning progression comes from observation and understanding rather than following clearly marked objectives.

No Levels, No Hand-Holding

Helping Chroma Zero stand out is the lack of traditional level-based progression.

Instead of moving from one contained puzzle to the next, you’ll get to explore a connected space where everything remains part of the same evolving world. The developers also suggest that environments can change suddenly, adding another layer of unpredictability to exploration.

It should mean it plays like the kind of experience designed for those who enjoy piecing together systems and uncovering hidden rules at their own pace, rather than being constantly guided from objective marker to objective marker.

Chroma Zero could prove to be one of those games where the journey matters just as much as the solution itself. Download Chroma Zero from the Xbox Store, before playing on Xbox Series X|S.
