Chronicles of the Wolf – coming in 2025

Hold onto your hats as it’ll soon be time to unleash your inner monster hunter and prepare for a thrilling quest with Chronicles of the Wolf!

Migami Games, in collaboration with publishers PQube and PixelHeart, is excited to announce Chronicles of the Wolf, a haunting new action-platformer inspired by the legend of the Beast of Gévaudan.

This atmospheric adventure, coming to PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in Summer 2025, promises a blend of classic Metroidvania gameplay, dark historical lore, and stunning artistry.

Hunt the Beast, Uncover the Secrets

In Chronicles of the Wolf, you’ll step into the role of Mateo Lombardo, a young apprentice on a quest to become a True Knight of the Rose Cross Order.

Tasked with hunting down the mythical Beast of GĂ©vaudan, Mateo’s journey will lead him through sprawling castles, treacherous landscapes, and a world shrouded in mystery.

Features That Will Sink Your Teeth Into

  • Intense Combat: Master challenging combat encounters against a variety of enemies, utilising your sword, agility, and special abilities to overcome the odds.
  • Boss Battles: Face off against formidable bosses, including the legendary Beast of GĂ©vaudan itself, in epic showdowns that will test your skills and determination.
  • Exploration: Explore vast and interconnected environments, uncovering hidden secrets, solving puzzles, and discovering powerful upgrades.
  • Guest Appearance: Encounter Bloodless, the iconic character from Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, in a special guest appearance, voiced by Kira Buckland.
  • Stunning Visuals: Immerse yourself in a beautifully crafted world with hand-painted environments, detailed animations, and illustrated cutscenes that bring the story to life.
  • Atmospheric Soundtrack: Enjoy a captivating soundtrack composed by Jeffrey Montoya, with an exclusive title screen track by Oscar Araujo, the composer of the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series.
  • Legendary Narration: Experience the story through the immersive narration of Robert Belgrade, the iconic voice of Alucard in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

A Metroidvania with a Historical Twist

Chronicles of the Wolf draws inspiration from classic Metroidvania games, offering a blend of exploration, combat, and character progression. However, its unique setting, inspired by the historical legend of the Beast of Gévaudan, and its focus on atmospheric storytelling set it apart from other games in the genre.

A Spiritual Successor?

The developers at Migami Games describe Chronicles of the Wolf as a spiritual successor to Castlevania: The Lecarde Chronicles 2, suggesting a deep passion for the genre and a commitment to delivering a captivating experience for fans of Metroidvanias and gothic horror.

Chronicles of the Wolf is set to release in Summer 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

With its intriguing premise, challenging gameplay, and stunning presentation, could this be a must-play for fans of action-adventure and those who appreciate a touch of historical mystery? We’ll find out in the weeks and months ahead.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
