LifeLine Games and Dear Villagers have announced a new partnership to release the beautiful cinematic platformer, Deer & Boy, in 2026.
The game is confirmed to be coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
A brand-new gameplay trailer, showcased during this month’s Future Games Show, gives us a fresh look at this touching and poetic adventure about an unlikely friendship.
A Poetic Friendship in a Perilous World
First revealed during the 2024 Summer Games Fest, Deer & Boy tells the touching story of a young boy who is fleeing from his home. Lost and alone, he stumbles upon a frightened, orphaned fawn. The two quickly realise how much they need each other to face the struggles of their lives, and an unexpected yet powerful friendship is formed.
This is a story about escaping reality and finding solace in an unlikely companion, a journey that will take both characters further than they ever hoped.
Deer & Boy is a cinematic platformer that aims to deliver a deeply emotional journey, pairing the stunning visuals of animation with the poignant connection to characters and story that only video games can provide.
A Cinematic Platformer
As the duo travels together, players will navigate a beautiful but dangerous world. The gameplay will involve platforming challenges and overcoming obstacles that will test the bond between the two friends.
A key and unique feature of the game is how the bond between the characters directly impacts their progression. As they travel together and the seasons change, the fawn will mature into a vigorous, powerful deer. This physical growth will, in turn, help the boy to face the obstacles of his own fate, allowing him to emerge from this dreamlike voyage as a grown-up himself.

Deer & Boy is the debut project from LifeLine Games, a studio founded by veteran developer Jayson Houdet. The game is a true passion project, and the team has been overwhelmed by the positive response so far.
