City Transport Simulator Tram Bus
City Transport Simulator Tram Bus DLC

The city of Tramau first opened its tram lines to Xbox players with the launch of City Transport Simulator: Tram, offering a relaxing, if simple, simulation experience. Today, developer ViewApp is massively expanding the public transport network.

The city is no longer just about the rails; a brand-new Bus Module has arrived, accompanied by a suite of comprehensive new editions designed to cater to every type of transport enthusiast.

This wealth of new content creates multiple new journeys for players, whether you’re an existing manager of the tram network or a newcomer looking to build a transport empire from the ground up. But with so many new tickets to choose from, which route is right for you?

Your Starting Point in Tramau

Before we explore the new content, it’s worth remembering the base experience. City Transport Simulator: Tram puts you in the cab of several real-world trams, tasking you with building an effective network in a city inspired by southern Germany. In our 3/5 review of the game, we found that “the simple nature of driving a tram across a city is fine,” and while we felt the career mode could have more depth, we concluded that for those wanting to “help a city prosper… City Transport Simulator: Tram could well be your preferred method of travel.

This is the foundation upon which all the new content is built.

Which Ticket is Right For You? A Guide to the New Content

With a standalone DLC and four new editions now on the Xbox Store, here’s a breakdown to help you find your perfect ride.

The Bus Module

Just want to add buses to your existing game? Go and grab yourself the Bus Module for £18.49.

This is the headline act for existing players. The Bus Module is a DLC expansion that requires the base City Transport Simulator: Tram game to play. For £18.49, it unlocks a whole new career path, allowing you to:

  • Drive fully licensed MAN and Gräf/Steyr city buses.
  • Tackle 50 new bus-specific levels.
  • Create and manage your own custom bus routes across Tramau.
  • Customise your fleet with new liveries and logos.

If you already own the base game and simply want to branch out from rails to roads, this is your stop.

Two Fan Editions

But perhaps you are a tram or bus superfan? If that’s the case, it’s the Fan editions that you’ll need, with each sitting behind a £39.74 price point.

These two bundles are for the dedicated enthusiasts who want to go deep on one vehicle type while still sampling the other.

  • Tram – Fan Edition: This is for the rail purists. It bundles the base game with extra, iconic trams like the StadtRegioTram and Flexity Vienna, but also includes three licensed city buses to get you started on the roads.
  • Bus – Fan Edition: For those who prefer diesel to electric. This edition includes the base game plus an expanded fleet of buses, including articulated models like the MAN Lion’s City A23, while also providing three licensed trams for a taste of the rail network.

Making a Start?

Want a taste of both of those worlds, right from the start? There’s a nifty little Starter Edition to consider, for just £31.74.

If you’re a new player and want to dive into both bus and tram driving from day one, this is your perfect ticket. The City Transport Simulator: Bus + Tram – Starter Edition is the new definitive base package. For £31.74, it includes:

  • The full base game experience.
  • A fleet of six fully licensed vehicles to get you started: three agile city buses (including the MAN Lion’s City series) and three classic trams (including the Vienna ULF).

Think of this as the ideal entry point for anyone who wants to manage and drive a combined transport network without immediately committing to the larger vehicle packs.

Go Gold

Your final option is to go properly big and grab the keys to the entire city with the Gold Edition. It’ll set you back £55.49.

This is the ultimate, all-in-one package for newcomers or anyone wanting the complete experience. The City Transport Simulator: Bus + Tram – Gold Edition contains everything mentioned above and more, including:

  • A grand total of 17 fully licensed vehicles.
  • Premium articulated buses and the brand-new MAN New Lion’s City family.
  • Premium trams like the Flexity Vienna and StadtRegioTram.
  • Additional content including the Bus & Tram Depot and the South-Route DLC.

This is the definitive edition for those who want to build and drive a truly comprehensive, multi-faceted public transport empire.

What Will You Buy?

So, whether you’re a dedicated tram driver looking to branch out, a bus enthusiast wanting the most complete fleet, or a newcomer ready to take control of an entire city’s network from scratch, ViewApp has laid out a full timetable of options.

While the original game was a decent starting point, these new additions promise to add the depth and variety needed to create a truly sprawling transport simulation.

All these new options for City Transport Simulator are available on the Xbox Store right now for Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
