A Quest Fuelled By Revenge

The story begins with tragedy. After a fearsome lightning demon murders the hero’s father, a young child sets out alone to hunt down the monsters responsible.

That journey spans seven distinct worlds, each ruled by a powerful demon waiting at the end of its own side-scrolling gauntlet. Along the way you’ll battle lesser enemies, avoid deadly traps and gradually master the mysterious magic known as Clarity, using it to cast spells and enhance your growing arsenal.

Choose Your Own Path Through The Demon Worlds

Rather than forcing players down a single route, Clarity: The Seven Demons of Vanguardia lets you decide which of the seven stages to tackle first. That choice matters.

Each defeated boss rewards you with a powerful demon sword, and every weapon carries elemental properties that can give you an advantage against future enemies. Planning your route carefully could make later encounters considerably easier, adding a welcome layer of strategy beyond the game’s platforming.

And then the movement is designed to stay fluid throughout the adventure, with running, jumping, air dashing and swordplay combining to keep every level moving at a brisk pace.

Magic also plays an important role. Defeated enemies leave behind Clarity, a resource that can be spent to unleash special abilities through your magical staff, giving players another option alongside traditional melee combat.

Seven Demons Stand In Your Way

Blending classic 2D action with modern movement mechanics and a rewarding progression system, Clarity: The Seven Demons of Vanguardia looks to reward careful planning just as much as quick reflexes.

It’s available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC with Xbox Play Anywhere via the Xbox Store. You’ll find that PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch versions are also available.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
