Claybook arrives on Xbox One as a Game Preview title

Latest Reviews

It’s been a little while since we last had anything really exciting hit the Xbox Game Preview library, but today all that changes. Claybook is here, and whilst it isn’t yet a full release, the whole premise is pretty darn interesting.

Available right now from the Microsoft Store, Claybook will come with a £11.99 price tag. There is a free trial also available, letting you in on the joy it brings for nothing, but no matter which option you choose, you must remember that as a Xbox Game Preview game, everything is still a work in progress, and you may or may not see a return for your cash.

Chances are that Claybook will release fully at some point down the line, and when it does, we’d expect many to be all over it. Bringing us a unique world that is made entirely of clay, it’ll be up to you to overcome obstacles and puzzles by morphing clay blobs into different shapes. With each coming with their own strengths and weaknesses’, alongside some super special powers, how you go about succeeding in this puzzles is completely down to you.

It looks great, and the whole idea behind it is one of intrigue, so should you wish to give it a shot, helping the development team behind it ‘mold’ Claybook into a fully fledged title, then by all means give it a shot. Even if that is just with the free trial, the temptation of Xbox One X enhancements is too great to ignore.

Let us know your thoughts down below!

Game Description:

This game is a work in progress. It may or may not change over time or release as a final product. Purchase only if you are comfortable with the current state of the unfinished game. Claybook is a unique world made entirely of clay. Everything acts like it’s made of real clay. Every inch of the environment can be shaped and molded. Everything has matter inside it, not just an outer shell. Clay can be liquid or solid, it can be deformed and destroyed. In the game, you step into the shoes of brave kids who bring the Claybook to life. Each chapter of the book challenges you with unique obstacles and puzzles. You possess clay blobs and morph them into different shapes in order to overcome tricky situations. Each shape has its own strengths and weaknesses, some even have special powers. Full details on the latest status of the game, how you can give feedback and report issues can be found at www.claybookgame.com.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
