It’s been a long wait, but Code Vein II is finally here – and it arrives swinging.
Available now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC (through Deluxe and Ultimate editions, with Standard Edition to follow on the 29th), Bandai Namco’s anime-infused action RPG sequel, Code Vein II, builds on everything that made the original a cult favourite, while throwing time itself into the mix.
Following on from the story beats teased back in October 2025, Code Vein II doesn’t just revisit a broken world – it asks you to change its fate.
A World On The Brink – And A Journey Through Time
In a future where humans and Revenants uneasily coexist, catastrophe strikes with the arrival of the Luna Rapacis. Revenants begin to lose themselves, transforming into mindless monsters known as Horrors, and the world edges closer to total collapse.
As a Revenant hunter, you’re tasked with stopping the end of everything – not just with brute force, but by travelling into the past alongside Lou, a mysterious girl with the power to manipulate time. What follows is a story that stretches across eras, challenging you to uncover lost truths, alter key events, and reshape the destinies of those you meet along the way.
Change The Past, Save The Future
Decisions made in the past ripple forward, affecting characters, alliances, and the world itself. Code Vein II leans heavily into this idea, giving emotional weight to your choices and encouraging you to think beyond the next boss fight.
Combat remains unmistakably Code Vein – intense, stylish, and demanding – but it’s been refined across the board. Battles reward careful observation, quick reactions, and smart use of abilities, while still delivering that rush of triumph after a hard-earned victory.
The series’ signature blood-draining mechanics return, allowing you to steal power from enemies and unleash devastating skills. A new build system expands customisation further, letting you freely tailor weapons, abilities, and playstyles to suit how you want to fight – whether that’s aggressive, tactical, or somewhere in between.
Never Fight Alone
Once again, Code Vein II places a strong emphasis on partner characters. These allies aren’t just backup – they actively shape combat encounters and the narrative itself. Each companion brings unique abilities, combat synergies, and personal stories that deepen your connection to the world.
Choose your partners carefully, because who you fight alongside can change how battles – and relationships – unfold.

From Cult Hit To Confident Sequel
When we reviewed the original Code Vein back in 2019, we called it “a great new addition to the action RPG genre”, praising its story, replay value, and sense of discovery – even if a few rough edges held it back from perfection.
Code Vein II feels like a direct response to that feedback. It’s more confident, more ambitious, and more willing to push its identity beyond simply being “anime Souls”. With time-bending storytelling, deeper systems, and a darker, more emotional core, this sequel aims to stand on its own rather than live in anyone else’s shadow.
If you enjoyed the original, or you’re looking for a stylish, story-driven action RPG with teeth, Code Vein II is ready to drain your time – and your blood – starting today.
You’ll find it available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. If you’re an Xbox player, you’ve got some decisions to make. Do you take home the Standard Edition of Code Vein II, or go bigger with the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition? The choice, is yours, but remember, the latter two provide early access ahead (ie, play now!) of the official Jan 29th release date.
Hold tight for our full review of Code Vein II. It’s coming soon.
Is Code Vein II On Xbox Game Pass Or Play Anywhere?
If you’re wondering whether Code Vein II is arriving day one on Xbox Game Pass, the answer is a straightforward no. At launch, Bandai Namco’s latest action RPG is a full premium release, with no Game Pass availability announced for Xbox players.
It’s also worth noting that Code Vein II does not support Xbox Play Anywhere. That means purchasing the game on Xbox does not grant access to the PC version, and vice versa – something to keep in mind if you usually hop between platforms.
That said, this isn’t unusual for a big-name Bandai Namco release at launch. If the original Code Vein is anything to go by, future discounts or subscription appearances aren’t out of the question, just not right now.
