Codemasters and Motorsport announce the inaugural DiRT World Championships are coming soon

2026's Best Games

If there’s someone you want behind a racing game then you can be sure it’s the guys over at Codemasters, and if you want to make your event recognised within the racing world, there aren’t many platforms bigger than Motorsport Network. So to have both coming together to bring us a new World Championship for the most defined rally experience available on console and PC is certainly something to shout about.

Beginning on February 19th, 2018, players will be able to take part in the inaugural DiRT World Championships. Those that compete will be given the opportunity to win a test drive at the home of British racing, Silverstone circuit, in a renowned RX2 rallycross car.

On top of this, those good enough to qualify for the showpiece finale will be part of the event live-streamed on Motorsport.tv that will bring the Championships to a dramatic climax on May 26th, 2018 at the Speedmachine festival, this year’s home to the British round of the FIA Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy.

To get involved, players can head on over to the Community Events system in DiRT 4 to compete online in rally and rallycross events to pit yourself against the best to earn a place in the live-streamed quarter-finals and semi-finals, before gaining a place at Speedmachine. For details on rounds, rules and how to take part, players can visit the following link via the official DiRT World Championships website – www.dirt4game.com/esports.

The DiRT World Championships are being run alongside Gfinity, one of the global leaders in eSports events and competitions. There will be six weekly qualifying rounds in total, with the first starting as mentioned on February 19th, 2018. Round One will put players into the seat of a Group A car across a two-stage event in Australia to compete for the best time, with the two fastest times from each platform – Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC – qualifying for the quarter finals.

With coverage from Motorsport Network the DiRT World Championships will be brought to an audience across 21 editions in 17 languages from over 200 of the world’s most influential journalists.

When speaking about the upcoming championships Codemasters eSports Manager Andy Gray had the following to say – DiRT 4 has a vibrant and highly engaged community and we will be showcasing their incredible skill and dedication throughout the tournament. Having the final at Speedmachine, in front of a live audience of motorsport fans, will put the world’s best players in the spotlight on a global stage. We cannot wait to see how our champion performs in a real RX2 car, on track in front of a huge crowd at Silverstone.

When talking about the partnership with Motorsport.TV Andy Gray continued with the following – We have enjoyed great success working with Gfinity on the F1 Esports Series so we look forward to continuing that relationship. We continue to work closely with our long-term partner, FIA World Rallycross Championship, and have also initiated an exciting new media partnership with Motorsport Network who will leverage its incredible reach to bring the tournament to a wider audience across Motorsport.com, Autosport.com, and Motorsport.tv.

With only a week to go before the inaugural DiRT World Championships begin, and big prizes and opportunities for those who can prove themselves as the best racers out there, the time to practice is now.
