A fresh pot of coffee is brewing, and a new café is preparing to open its doors in the heart of Tokyo. Chorus Worldwide has officially announced the release date for Coffee Talk Tokyo, the next standalone chapter in the beloved lo-fi narrative series.
Prepare to serve up warm drinks and warmer conversations when the game launches globally on March 5th, 2026, for Xbox, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
This new entry in the series moves the action to a new city, introducing an all-new cast of characters, new drinks to master, and new stories to uncover, all while retaining the same warm, cozy heart that defined the series.
A Return to the ‘Joyous’ Spark?
The Coffee Talk series holds a very special place in our hearts. When the original game launched, we called it “an early contender for Indie Game of the Year – it is such a joyous game.” It was a magical experience, a perfect blend of “coffee, gorgeous pixel art and lo-fi beats” that felt like “witchcraft” in its ability to connect us to its characters.
The sequel, Coffee Talk Episode 2, was a welcome return but, for us, was “lacking the same spark that the first game had to spare.” Now, with Coffee Talk Tokyo, the series has a fantastic opportunity to recapture that original magic.
As we explored in our deep dive on the new setting, Tokyo feels like the perfect city to revitalise the formula, and this new chapter is poised to do just an.
New Café, New City, New Stories
Coffee Talk Tokyo invites players to once again step into the role of the barista in a late-night café, but this time in the bustling, neon-lit cityscape of Tokyo. You will serve as a quiet confidant to a brand-new cast of humans and fantastical beings, each with their own dreams, struggles, and stories to share.
The entire experience will be wrapped in a brand-new, chill lo-fi soundtrack from Andrew “AJ” Jeremy, the returning composer from the first two games. His new tracks promise to capture the calm, jazzy rhythm of Tokyo’s summer nights.
What’s New on the Menu?
This new chapter isn’t just a change of scenery; it’s also introducing new gameplay mechanics to enhance your brewing creativity and deepen your connection to the customers.
Your barista toolkit is getting an upgrade. You will now be able to experiment with both hot and cold drinks, and you can take your latte art to the next level with new sprinkle stencils for more personalized designs.
A new in-game social feed, “Tomodachill,” has been added. This will allow you to explore your customers’ lives outside the café, discovering hidden insights and connections that can unlock new and deeper dialogue options.
The Collector’s Edition
The new release date trailer also gave us a glimpse of a beautiful Collector’s Edition that will be available, which includes:
- A 10-track City Pop Album
- The Seattle Prologue Chapter
- An in-game digital artbook
The neon sign is flickering on, and the espresso machine is warming up. For those of us who have been waiting for a new story that captures the unique, heartfelt magic of the original, Coffee Talk Tokyo is one of our most anticipated releases of 2026. The doors open on March 5th.
