Collie Call The Future Is Calling – now available

The universe doesn’t always need saving by soldiers or space marines – sometimes it just needs a very good dog, just like that one in Collie Call: The Future is Calling.

This one takes that idea and runs with it, launching players into a quirky sci-fi puzzler where a robotic collie is tasked with organising wayward sheep across the cosmos.

Now available on Xbox Series X|S (Optimised), Xbox One and PC, with three versions each priced at ÂŁ4.19, this latest from Afil Games continues their trend of simple, accessible puzzlers, just this time with a futuristic twist and a whole lot of intergalactic fluff.

At A Glance

  • Game: Collie Call: The Future is Calling

  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S (Optimised), Xbox One, PC
  • Price: ÂŁ4.19 (three versions available)
  • Game Type: Puzzle / Strategy

A Shepherd’s Work Is Never Done… Even In Space

Collie Call: The Future is Calling doesn’t waste time with complicated setups. You’re a robotic dog, there are floating sheep, and somehow it’s your job to get them safely into air-bubble enclosures before everything descends into chaos.

What follows is a neat little puzzle loop where positioning and planning are key. Each level plays out like a grid-based brainteaser – push a sheep the wrong way and you might find yourself restarting, or more likely, hitting undo and rethinking your approach.

Teleporters, switches and gates add a bit of sci-fi flair to proceedings, but at its heart, this is a game about careful movement and tidy solutions.

Simple Systems, Smart Challenges

Across 30 levels, things gradually ramp up, introducing new mechanics that force you to think a step or two ahead. It never becomes overwhelming, but there’s enough here to keep you engaged, especially if you enjoy refining your approach until everything clicks just right.

Like many Afil Games releases, it’s built around a single core idea and sticks to it. That’s both its strength and its limitation. As we noted in our review, “Collie Call: The Future is Calling fits with many of the other games produced by Afil Games – simple graphics and a single core puzzle mechanic that is designed to appeal to younger gamers.”

Answering The Call?

Collie Call: The Future is Calling isn’t aiming for complexity or depth. If you’re happy to embrace its simplicity, there’s fun to be had here. And if nothing else, it proves one thing: no matter how far humanity ventures into space… someone still has to herd the sheep.

You’ll find the game on the Xbox Store, kicking around in three flavours. There’s the Xbox Series X|S Optimised edition, another for Xbox One, and then one for Windows PC.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
