CometStriker DX is a bullet-hell featuring a cool dog

CometStriker DX Xbox

Few game genre names get their point across as well as ‘bullet-hell’. Action-adventure is the most generic description ever and calling a game stealth just means I won’t have the patience for it. But the term bullet-hell just perfectly conjures up what you are about to deal with. And also means I won’t have the patience for it. CometStriker DX is out now on Xbox.

In CometStriker DX, a living space station has descended on Earth and will literally devour the planet if it gets close enough. A space station that is living and breathing all sounds a bit Event Horizon and we all know how terrifying that sounds.

Only a dog of all things can save the world from being eaten. In order to do that though, he needs to visit various worlds to recover their Ancient Power Cores to power up the Planetary Defense Cannon. I won’t argue why a technology has been made that can only be powered with off-world cores; plot holes are the least of our worries here.

And not only that, but the dog itself is called Lt. Comet Striker. It’s like his owners knew what was to become of him. Can you help Lt. Comet Striker fight off the aliens and dodge the tens of thousands of bullets that will be heading his way? Using his powerful dodge mechanic, I would say yes.

CometStriker DX is on the Xbox Store now priced at £12.49. It will feature various difficulties, intense boss battles and unlockable characters, though Comet Striker is the only one for me. And stay tuned for our review coming very soon.
