Closer The Distance – now on Xbox, PlayStation, PC

A story-driven slice-of-life simulator that has been put together by Osmotic Games and Skybound Games, Closer the Distance launches onto Xbox, PlayStation and PC. 

Available right now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC is Closer the Distance. It’s priced at £15.99, attempting to tell a tale about the connections between family, friends and death.

A gripping tale

We find Closer the Distance focusing on a young woman, Angela, shortly after she has died in a tragic accident. It here where she arrives from beyond the grave, utilising ethereal skills and abilities in hope of uncovering hidden secrets and stories. 

Set in the community town of Yesterby, it’ll be up to you to help Angela out, raising the spirits and healing up those who you have left behind. You’ll do that by partaking in some sim-styled gameplay, pushed along by a narrative that is nothing short of gripping.

And as you may expect from such a game, those who you find in Yesterby are complex characters, full of emotions, memories and more. Your choices will ultimately dictate how this adventure plays out.

You’ll find Closer the Distance on the usual digital stores. For us Xbox Series X|S players, it’s the Xbox Store that will sort out a download. Just don’t expect to play this on Xbox One though. 

Alternatively, Closer the Distance is also available on PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam).

Closer the Distance Description

Closer the Distance is a deeply moving, slice-of-life sim that tells a story about the connections between family and friends in the face of tragedy. Following a fatal car accident, players take on the role of Angela, a young girl from the town of Yesterby, who finds herself watching over her loved ones as they navigate the grieving process. Using her ethereal ability to influence the townspeople she once knew, Angela’s choices will ultimately determine the fate of Yesterby.

Closer the Distance combines several key gameplay features for an immersive playthrough. The game’s compelling narrative is emotionally charged and highlights themes of empathy, community, friendship, grief, and closure. Choices-matter gameplay allows players to make decisions that affect the outcome of the story, making each playthrough unique.
