Indies have dominated the summer and they’re not slowing down yet. Creature in the Well is the next in a long line of great indie games of 2019, and today it has released on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam.

You might not associate hack-and-slash action with pinball, but developers Flight School will make sure you do after playing this. In Creature in the Well it’s up to you, the last BOT-C unit, to save the city of Mirage from being trapped in a desert sandstorm for the rest of time.

Your BOT-C unit needs to do this by trekking into the city’s mountain and powering up the ancient facility that’s been inactive for generations. There’s only one problem, the titular Creature stalking the mountain, stopping you from progressing.

Through this journey down 8 levels you’ll encounter hazardous machinery, hostile turrets and locked doors blocking your path down. It’s up to you to deal with pinball inspired obstacles and puzzles with your two swords; blocking, hitting and charging up energy orbs to defend yourself and reactivate dormant machinery.

Secret paths, hidden upgrades, weapons and collectibles, dark secrets and boss battles all await you in Creature in the Well.

After a review? Our thoughts surrounding Creature in the Well on Xbox One are up and live.

You can play it now for £12.49 on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch or PC, thanks to the Xbox store, Nintendo store or Steam. It’s also launching into Xbox Game Pass today as well, so if you are a subscriber to that, you’re quids in.

My earliest gaming memories come from playing Pokemon Crystal on the Game Boy, Kingdom Hearts on the PS2 and most importantly Halo 3 on the Xbox 360. I've pretty much played video games everyday since and still get excited about what's to come.
