There aren’t an awful lot of cricket games available to the gaming masses, and the new generation options of those are even more limited. Now though it’s time for cricket to start to make a name for itself and on the eve of The Ashes batting off, Cricket 22 launches on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC, Cricket 22 from Nacon and Big Ant Studios looks to usher in a new generation of cricketing options as they provide the deepest and most comprehensive cricket simulation yet.
Priced at £49.99, Cricket 22 looks to take on what was previously delivered in the likes of Cricket 19 and Ashes Cricket to give fans of the sport a proper bit of consideration. It comes with 4K visuals, is fully optimised for the likes of Xbox Series X|S, is powered by a new visual engine and runs a narrative driven career mode.
With the usual licensing suite in place, if you’re looking to play through The Ashes, or take in The Hundred, Australia’s Big Bash, the CPL or even the international scene, Cricket 22 should well be able to provide it; no matter whether you are interested in the men’s or women’s game. Even more so when you consider Big Ant have an on-going roadmap planned too.
“We’ve loved building a cricket game for the new generation – the creative opportunities that it has afforded us has really helped elevate Cricket 22 to the next level,” Ross Symons, CEO of Big Ant Studios, said. “From the licenses through to the all-new career mode and commentary team, we’ve worked hard to ensure that this game will surprise and delight veterans and new players alike.”
In fact, the key features are pretty damn deep…
- – All-new bowling and fielding controls; whether it’s a feisty fast bouncer, or the satisfying “snap” as you hurl the ball from the infield for a precision run-out, Cricket 22 features refined, tight controls that enable you to play your best game of cricket.
- – A deep, narrative-driven career mode; you are in control on and off the field. You manage your training and press conferences, deal with injuries, and decide your path towards international glory!
- – It’s the most accessible cricket game yet; New to Cricket? Cricket 22 makes it easier to get into the game than ever before, with a completely overhauled series of tutorials and first-time user experience. Cricket 22 is the most detailed simulation of the sport that Big Ant has ever created, and thanks to these tutorials we’ll have you out there batting and bowling like a pro in no time.
- – An all-new commentary team; Cricket 22 brings a star-studded commentary team, featuring Michael Atherton, Ian Healy, Mel Jones, Alison Mitchell and David Gower. Every shot will be called with greater depth and analysis than ever before, and for the first time ever in a sports game, there will be an all-women commentary team, further deepening the representation of women in the Cricket 22 experience.
- – The best-looking cricket ever; Cricket 22 takes full advantage of the capabilities of the latest generation of hardware. Not only does the game load with blinding speed, getting you into the action more quickly than ever before, it also includes a full suite of visual updates, including incredible real-time ray tracing elements, providing the most visually realistic game of cricket ever seen.
We’ll be grabbing our bat and ball and looking to smash some fours – at the very least – with a full review of how Cricket 22 plays on Xbox Series X|S very soon. For now though you can pick the game up for yourself by visiting the Xbox Store.
You’ll also find Cricket 22 on PlayStation (PS4 and PS5), as well as PC.
