What if the world you knew was still there, only completely wrong? Dark Reflection invites Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC players into a warped version of reality where a missing friend, demonic enemies and some seriously heavy metal are all waiting on the other side.

Priced at ÂŁ4.19, this pixel-art adventure also supports Xbox Play Anywhere.

Welcome To The Dark Reflection

The disappearance of your best friend is enough of a problem without discovering that the only way to find them is through a sinister mirror version of your own reality.

That’s the setup for Dark Reflection, which takes familiar locations and turns them into hostile environments where nothing can quite be trusted. From there, expect to be treated to some side-scrolling action with exploration, puzzles and inventory management, creating an adventure where simply finding your way forward can be as important as surviving the monsters.

You’ll need to search each unsettling location for useful items, work out how they can be used and uncover the secrets hidden within this distorted world.

Pixel-Art Horror With A Heavy Metal Heart

Dark Reflection isn’t aiming for subtlety. Its pixel-art world is packed with demons, strange encounters and giant bosses, while a heavy rock soundtrack provides the musical accompaniment to the chaos.

Combat sees you slashing through aggressive enemies, but simply charging ahead isn’t the only way to progress. Puzzles and environmental obstacles force you to pay attention to your surroundings and make proper use of the items you discover.

And beneath all the darkness is a streak of dark humour, giving the adventure a little more personality than its ominous premise might suggest.

Your Choices Shape The Nightmare

There are secrets tucked away throughout the warped world too, including hidden paths and unusual encounters. Exploring beyond the obvious route could therefore prove worthwhile, particularly for anyone keen to uncover everything Dark Reflection has to offer.

Your decisions also matter as multiple endings await, giving your actions a little more weight and providing a reason to return once you’ve discovered where your first journey takes you.

Ready To Step Through?

Dark Reflection looks like an adventure built for players who enjoy their pixel art with a darker edge. There’s exploration to handle, puzzles to unravel, demons to fight and plenty of heavy metal noise to accompany the whole thing.

At ÂŁ4.19 from the Xbox Store, it’s another compact-looking Xbox and PC adventure, but one with enough secrets and different outcomes to encourage a little experimentation. Just make sure you’re comfortable with the idea of meeting a twisted version of your own world – because once you enter the Dark Reflection, getting back out might not be quite so simple.
