Scarlet Wolf – now on console

Some horror games throw monsters at you from the very first minute. Others take their time, slowly building a sense of unease before pulling the rug out from under your feet. Like Scarlet Wolf then…

Now available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, alongside PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, this psychological horror adventure promises dark corridors, disturbing creatures and a journey deep into a troubled mind.

Priced at ÂŁ8.39, it’s the latest horror release from Sometimes You, a company that has become no stranger to bringing unusual and unsettling experiences to console players.

At A Glance

  • Game: Scarlet Wolf
  • Developer: Graven Visual Novels
  • Publisher: Sometimes You – FZCO
  • Platforms: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch
  • Price: ÂŁ8.39
  • Genre: Psychological Horror

Trapped Inside A Living Nightmare

The premise centres around Alex, a young man plagued by the same recurring nightmare for months. Unable to find answers on his own, he turns to psychologist Dr. Amanda Silk in the hope of finally understanding what’s happening to him. Naturally, things don’t go quite as planned.

What follows is a descent into a world filled with hostile memories, deadly traps and monstrous manifestations of Alex’s past. As the line between reality and nightmare begins to blur, players must uncover hidden truths while trying to survive the horrors lurking around every corner.

Scarlet Wolf doesn’t exactly sound like the sort of game where standing your ground is a viable option. The game’s description paints a picture of endless corridors, oppressive environments and a relentless creature determined to hunt players down.

The Past Can Be A Monster Too

And one of the more intriguing aspects of Scarlet Wolf is the way it frames its central threat.

The monsters may be terrifying enough on their own, but the game’s narrative repeatedly hints that the real danger lies within Alex’s memories and unresolved trauma. The enemy isn’t simply a creature stalking the hallways – it’s the weight of a past that refuses to stay buried.

Combined with the game’s unusual creature designs and dark visual style, that could help Scarlet Wolf carve out its own identity in a crowded horror genre.

Dare To Open The Door?

Scarlet Wolf is available right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch for ÂŁ8.39. If you’re playing on Xbox, you’ve got a couple of options – the Xbox Series X|S Optimised edition, or that for Xbox One.

If you’re in the mood for psychological horror that leans heavily into nightmares, trauma and unsettling atmosphere, this could be one worth keeping an eye on. Just remember one thing before stepping inside those corridors: Some doors are probably locked for a reason.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
