Get ready for a stay at the strangest seaside hotel you’ve ever seen with There are No Ghosts at The Grand.
Developer Friday Sundae has officially unveiled There are No Ghosts at The Grand, a unique, narrative-driven musical adventure set in a spooky British seaside town.
In a huge piece of news for subscribers, the game will be available day one with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and will also support Xbox Play Anywhere.
Revealed with a charming new trailer, this debut title blends hotel renovation, ghost-hunting action, and a quirky musical mystery into one unforgettable package.
Renovator by Day, Ghost Hunter by Night
In There are No Ghosts at The Grand, you inherit a crumbling English hotel with a very tight deadline. You have exactly 30 days and 30 nights to renovate the building before it – or something else – claims you. Aided by a sardonic cat and a talking power tool, you’ll uncover a twisting supernatural plot.
The gameplay is split into a distinct day/night cycle.
- By Day: You’ll use your friendly, talking power tools – like a sand blaster, paint sprayer, and even a furniture cannon – to blast the hotel back to its former glory. This involves a mix of satisfying destruction, redecoration, and solving light environmental puzzles using cryptic clues from the hotel’s past.
- By Night: When darkness falls, your tools transform. The vacuum cleaner becomes a ghost-sucking weapon, the paint sprayer can reveal invisible assailants, and the furniture cannon can subdue slithering spooks with a well-aimed bookcase to the face.
A Spooky, Ska-Punk Musical
As you work to save the hotel, you’ll meet a host of unforgettable characters, each with their own poignant and humorous stories to tell. The twist? Each character also has their own catchy song, and you’ll make dialogue choices by selecting the next verse.
This isn’t your typical show tune affair. The game features an eclectic original soundtrack inspired by everything from spooky ska and wartime jazz to energetic skater punk.
“There Are No Ghosts at The Grand is not a traditional musical in the musical theatre sense,” said Anil Glendinning, Writer and Game Director at Friday Sundae. “It’s more like a cool, dusty album of British ska and punk songs from the 1980s that you find in your dad’s record collection.”
With its wonderfully bizarre and utterly charming blend of genres, There are No Ghosts at The Grand is looking to be a truly unique experience. Prepare to check in and face the music – and the ghosts – when it launches day one on Xbox Game Pass.
