2026's Best Games

gwg january 2021

It’s been a hell of a year but finally we’re ready to wave goodbye to 2020 and usher in the whole new world of 2021. And you know what that means? As January 1st 2021 rolls into play we’ll be given the chance to celebrate the coming of the new year with more free games. Better still, the Xbox Games With Gold freebies for January 2021 have now been confirmed.

Following on from a month of December which has seen Saints Row, The Raven, BLEED 2 and more given away for nothing, January 2021 looks to continue the trend with four new freebies, all of which will be available to download provided you have a valid Xbox Live Gold subscription to hand.

It’s a pretty decent month going forward too, and whilst the success of any of these freebies will all be dependant on whether the gamer has previously played them or not, on the face of it we think it’s a decent month going forward. I mean, seriously, Little Nightmares and Dead Rising pretty much speak for themselves, do they not?

The free Xbox Games With Gold titles for January 2021 are as follows:

  • Little Nightmares – Xbox One – 1st-31st January 2021
  • Dead Rising – Xbox One – 16th January – 15th February 2021
  • The King of Fighters XIII – Xbox 360 – 1st-15th January 2021
  • Breakdown – Xbox 360 – 16th-31st January 2021

What this means is that should you be the proud holder of a valid Xbox Live Gold subscription, you’ll be able to start downloading these titles as the dates roll into view. Past history has proven they usually pop up a day or so prior too. Win win.

It also means that if you haven’t downloaded the titles for December, you best get a move on as they’ll soon be going back up in price. And really, if you miss out, well, you’ve got no-one to blame but yourself.

Let us know what you think of the latest freebies that are coming the way of Xbox gamers throughout January 2021. Is it a month you’ll be jumping on? Are these yet more titles that you’ll download for a rainy day? The comments are down below.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
