Ready to adapt to survive? Genesis Alpha One is coming and today Team17 and Radiation Blue show us how the roguelike features will take charge.

Releasing on Xbox One, PS4 and PC come January 29th 2019 (with a lovely boxed version hitting the consoles should you prefer that), Genesis Alpha One is all about the roguelike gameplay – and that is what we are finding the latest trailer fully focusing on.

Developed by the German indie developers at Radiation Blue and picked up for publishing rights by the global phenomenon that is Team17, Genesis Alpha One combines multiple genres to deliver a rather intriguing prospect, mixing roguelike mechanics, deep ship building opportunities and fast paced, first person shooting action as you get dropped into the role of a pioneer of interstellar proportions.

With the team at Radiation Blue having previously worked on the likes of Hitman: Blood Money, Hitman: Contracts, Velvet Assassin, Spec Ops: The Line, SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars, SpellForce 3 and The Settlers, you can be sure that the quality of Genesis Alpha One will be of a high one, and that means the chance to become the Captain of a Genesis starship, before shooting into space and taking on the ultimate mission should be something that many will want to check out.

It is here where you’ll find yourself helping build and manage a vast space vessel, adding segments as you see fit and ensuring that the resources you have scoured the galaxy for are used in the optimum way. Experimenting with DNA, delving into alien abilities and cloning new crew members will all be par for the course in Genesis Alpha One, as you attempt to find new homes for the DNA of humanity, saving an entire species from utter extinction.

But when things go wrong – and they will – you’ll be left to rely on the roguelike mechanics that hold Genesis Alpha One together. This will see you dying, reacting, adapting and attempting to survive longer on each of your missions, utilising the abilities of those which have gone before you. This is shown off brilliantly in the trailer below – the latest one to showcase the gameplay found in Genesis Alpha One on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

If you like what you see and fancy getting your £24.99 cash for Genesis Alpha One down early, then you can find yourself treated to some extra goodies. Those pre-purchasing will receive the Rocket Star Corporation content pack which includes the following exclusive weapons:

  • UTS 15 shotgun
  • FBL Firebomb Launcher
  • AsVal automatic rifle
  • Kugelblitz energy weapon
