The folks at Momo-pi development studio have rocked up on Xbox One with their intriguing puzzle game Persephone, which delivers a concept that poses an interesting question: What if death in video games is not the end, but is in fact the actual key to solving the levels within? But where, how and when will you choose to die in order to progress? Now, that’s a real conundrum.

Persephone is a turn-based, 2D isometric puzzle game that first saw the light of day on mobile platforms. It’s a puzzler exploring the idea that dying in-game could be a useful way to make progress. You will incarnate Persephone, who’s a young woman trying to make her way to the bottom of hell to meet her beloved, Hades – you’ve probably heard of him, he’s a pretty big deal. Throughout the square-tiled levels ahead, the only controls you have are movements in four directions. The difficulty comes in finding a solution in order to navigate the complex layouts and reach the end of each puzzle.

With more than 120 puzzles to tackle, set across 10 original and different environments offering unique mechanics, Persephone is certainly going to test your problem solving skills. Furthermore, it’ll even provide a captivating, classical soundtrack to help create an enveloping atmosphere while you ponder how to progress. And should this isometric puzzler be what you’re after, it’ll only cost you a mere £6.09 on the Xbox Store.
