Defeat the armies of Chaos in Rogue Spirit on Xbox, PlayStation and PC

-

rogue spirit

A new-gen only title that makes the most of the power of Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, in Rogue Spirit you’ll be found attempting to beat back the armies of Chaos, all in hope of saving your kingdom from the most demonic of invaders.

Priced at £15.99 from the Xbox Store (expect similar on PlayStation and PC), Rogue Spirit is the creation of the Kids With Sticks team, a small Polish outfit with big plans. Seeing as their team members have had credit with the likes of The Witcher, Dying Light and more, we think it’s pretty safe to say that they know their way around the gaming industry.

Teaming up with 505 Games to deliver Rogue Spirit to the Xbox, PlayStation and PC worlds, players will get the opportunity to take in a roguelite action adventure that utilises the power of stealth along the way. It has you playing as the Ghost of the Prince of the Kingdom of Midra (there’s lots of ‘ofs’ there!), making the most of your possession powers in order to fight back all evil.

Find success and your kingdom will stay safe. Fail, and well, you know what happens in video games…

Making your way through various lands will be key to what happens in Rogue Spirit, as you acquire and utilise a variety of skills and styles, making the most of them across differing scenarios. With that roguelite loop also at hand to help/hinder, tons of characters to enjoy, many levels to admire and enough skills to ensure you turn into a lean mean fighting machine, we’re excited by what Rogue Spirit can deliver.

Just be aware, if you’re rocking older Xbox One or PlayStation 4 technology, you’re going to be out of luck with playing Rogue Spirit. This is an Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC only title.

If you can cover what is needed there, expect to find the following key features to hand…

  • • Action game with stealth elements in a rogue-like game loop
  • • Possess the enemies you fight with and absorb their combat features to go on in the battle at your best
  • • Master different characters’ playstyles, improve your skills, and adapt to an ever-changing world
  • • Explore the wonderful Kingdom of Midra and learn its legends and lore
  • • 18 characters with different abilities, weapons, and playstyles
  • • 10 procedurally generated levels set in 5 different biomes
  • • Dozens of essences and skills to make each run different
  • • Unlock permanent upgrades between runs
  • • Secrets and bosses are waiting for you
  • • 3D graphics inspired by traditional Asian designs

We’ll be looking to review Rogue Spirit on Xbox Series X|S in the very near future, but for now hit up the Xbox Store and nab a download. It’s also on PlayStation and PC. Let us know what you think of this Kids With Sticks creation – the comments are below.

Game Description:

Reality and the spirit world are now intertwined: defeat the armies of Chaos to save the people of the Kingdom of Midra from demonic invaders. Rogue Spirit is a 3D rogue-lite action game with light stealth elements. Play as the Ghost of the Prince of the Kingdom of Midra, possess enemy characters and absorb their unique skills to fight the evil presence that has corrupted your land. Passing through your kingdom’s villages, forests and marshes, you’ll have to defeat and possess your foes to acquire their skills and adapt your combat style to different circumstances. Each defeated enemy is an opportunity for a body with a greater chance of survival.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
