Looking for a peek behind the curtain of tactical RPG Othercide ahead of its release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC next month? Then feast your eyes on ‘Forging Nightmares’, the first episode of the new ‘making of’ web series from developers Lightbulb Crew!

In Othercide, you’re the last hope for Humanity and must lead your army of Daughters to combat in an intricate dance of spectacular actions, which uses a Dynamic Timeline System, in order to defeat fearsome bosses in epic battles. You will fight. You will undoubtedly fail. But of course, you will rise again. Well now you are able to get your first real taste of the wonderful, weird, and hellish universe Lightbulb Crew are bringing to you in ‘Forging Nightmares’, the inaugural episode in the web series dedicated to the making of the visually sublime Othercide.

You could call it the perfect entry point to the game, as it provides background on the key characters and creatures from the Othercide universe: the Mother, her Daughters, and the utterly terrifying Others that you will face off against. Also discussed in the video is the art style that sets Othercide apart and gives a unique look and feel. Additionally, there’s insight into the real-world inspirations for the characters and situations of this disturbing reality. These influences are pulled from Japanese and western sources, as well as the real life of art director Alexandre Chaudret.

The second episode of the web series will arrive sometime in the near future as the game’s launch approaches, and this is set to cover decisions made on gameplay and specific game mechanics. Don’t forget to make a note of when Othercide is due for release, which is currently slated as being 28th July for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. A Nintendo Switch version is coming later this summer.

Be sure to give the Othercide web series as watch and let us know what you think of it…
