It’s a busy day for the team at Digerati, as they drop all manner of new gaming goodies onto Xbox One, holding out in the hope that a new wave of Xbox gamer will be tempted to fill their new console library with what they are offering. And if you’re looking for something to claim your soul, the launch of Demon Pit is that game.
Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One – with a Nintendo Switch launch on Christmas Day, and that of PS4 having occurred in the very recent past – Demon Pit from Digerati sees you attempting to get to grips with an old-school arcade-styled arena shooter, seeing you rise from the bottom right up to become the most acclaimed Demon Hunter.
Inspired by the FPS classics of the 1990s – Quake, Quake II, and Doom – Demon Pit works with an objective that revolves around attempting to survive as long as possible against the oncoming hordes. It all comes about via a collaboration between DoomCube and Psychic Software, two Republic of Ireland based developers who have a bit of a liking to the classics from yesteryear. It combines retro-authentic low poly 3D graphics, with uncompromisingly hardcore skill-based gameplay.
“Creating Demon Pit has been an exercise in balancing speed, challenge, purity and chaos,” explains DoomCube’s Paul Conway, artist and designer on Demon Pit. “I want players to fight forward, experiencing its unrelenting pace as they progress through waves of enemies and grasp for their place on the leaderboard.”
