Lets Build a Dungeon – create your dream game

As gamers, we think we know it all. We think we know how to come up with a game idea, how to design it, how to market things. Very soon we’ll get to prove it with Let’s Build a Dungeon.

Let’s Build a Dungeon will soon be looking to invite players in to creating their very own game studio, crafting a virtual MMORPG that is fit for heroes. As the name may suggest, it comes from the team at Springloaded, previously behind the hit Let’s Build a Zoo.

Prove yourself in game development

Due to land on Xbox and PC, Let’s Build a Dungeon is a creative management sim that draws upon everything Springloaded has learnt from previous game design. It’s here where they’ll allow players to go deep into the world of game dev, starting up as a fledgling studio in hope of creating the next big thing. Your ultimate goal will be to deliver an MMORPG to the gaming masses, keeping them satisfied in the process. But hey, are us gamers ever fully content?

Look to spend time with Let’s Build a Dungeon on Xbox or PC and you’ll fast realise that a game studio doesn’t run itself. You’ll need to go and recruit staff, rent an office, manage project deadlines, negotiate with shareholders, pitch to publishers for investment and undertake many more crucial tasks.

Do so and you could well find yourself taking the company from a scrappy indie studio to a development powerhouse. And that journey will play out in a humorous but true-to-life take on the current games industry.

What is Let’s Build a Dungeon?

Let’s Build a Dungeon blends meaningful decision-making with deep management simulation gameplay, inspired by experiences from Springloaded’s past 12 years as an independent studio.

Need more? Well, there will be many meaningful (and sometimes ethical…) choices to make, as you look to crunch, extending working hours to meet deadlines, or ignore investor pressure to protect the development team. Will you studio be able to develop the next monster-catching RPG? Or will you focus on a cozy farming simulator? Perhaps you’ve got big plans and can go all-in with a brand new experience that combines elements from multiple genres.

By designing quests, building environments and creating custom assets, players can build the ultimate RPG to meet their audience’s demands, whilst balancing the sometimes ridiculous challenges of running a studio.

Key Game Features

  • Design and build an MMO fit to be filled with hordes of virtual players
  • Manage the day-to-day running of a game studio, from hiring and firing to keeping investors happy
  • Attract new virtual players by expanding the world, designing new quests and monitoring player journeys
  • Progress through the campaign to develop new items, environments and mechanics
  • Playtest at any time to see the world through the eyes of a player
  • Mix-and-match quest styles for endless replayability
  • Customise a bespoke RPG world with thousands of items, or design custom assets
  • Negotiate tough conversations with shareholders, staff, players and publishers to make meaningful choices that will impact the success of the studio

Wishlisting?

Let’s Build a Dungeon can be wishlisted today on Steam for PC. There’s also the signup for the beta if you wish –

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
