Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate
Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate

Despite Destiny 2 launching all the way back in 2017, Bungie don’t seem to be slowing down with the huge expansions that come to the sci-fi FPS. And why would they? Every expansion that hits the game – whether it’s that of The Witch Queen, Lightfall, or 2024’s The Final Shape have been met with fanfare across the community, as new weapons are released, missions are unlocked, and stories are told.

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate is the latest paid expansion to the game, and heralds in a brand new saga of the game – the Fate Saga!

(Re)Introducing… The Nine!

Available today on Xbox, PlayStation and PC, Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate sees players explore a brand-new region of the Destiny 2 universe – Kepler.

This destination is all about player-driven discovery, with tons of mysteries, dungeons and areas to explore; perfect for both the solo player and those in an online squad to discover the brand-new enemies, weapons and abilities that can be unlocked.

Kepler is also home to a mass of dark matter energy, which plays a role in the new Matterspark ability available to all players. Common to other dark matter-based weapons and abilities, Matterspark enables you to change forms, allowing you to rapidly dash across terrain or navigate through tight spaces.

This will unlock brand-new ways to explore, and to manoeuvre around those tricky Raid bosses!

Narrative-wise, The Edge of Fate expansion re-introduces players to the ancient Nine, a force that existed long before the likes of The Traveler, and other iconic figures in the Destiny 2 lore.

The Edge of Fate will also propel Lodi and Ikora into the limelight – two faces that you’ll certainly become familiar with across the Fate Saga.

Free Game Updates

As well as the paid expansion of The Edge of Fate, alongside this release comes a number of quality of life updates for the base game, available for all those who play Destiny 2.

Notably, players will be keen to explore the Portal, a new system that streamlines activity selection (and believe me, there’s a lot of activities in Destiny 2 nowadays!). Through the Portal, players can easily pick what type of content they would like to explore, and also make use of fifty new modifiers to further tailor their experience. Destiny 2 is now yours to play with and shape to your will!

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate Key Features

  • New Narrative Saga: Embark on a multi-year story arc centered on mysterious, ancient beings known as the Nine and face a new, primordial threat. The story will prominently feature the legendary Warlock Vanguard Ikora and a new ally, Lodi.
  • New Destination – Kepler: Explore Kepler, a vast new location designed to encourage deep exploration, puzzle-solving, and player-driven discovery, drawing inspiration from the game’s dungeons.
  • Destination-Specific Abilities: Harness the power of dark matter energy found on Kepler to unlock unique abilities.
    • Matterspark: A new ability allowing players to change forms to squeeze through tight spaces, perform advanced movement like jumping and dashing, and become a destructive rolling force.
    • Relocator Cannon: Utilise new technology to teleport across the environment.
    • Mattermorph: Manipulate the surroundings by combining dark matter with the power of Strand.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
