If you’ve been keeping tabs on the upcoming hardcore fantasy adventure from Deep Silver and Nine Dots, Outward, then prepare for a brand new video. The Outward Dev Diary #2 showcases the sheer variety and depth of the environment within this RPG world that tempers fantasy elements with realism, whilst there’s also a focus on the mechanics of the trusty backpack.
In Outward, players must survive against a number of threats including the likes of hunger, disease and the elements in general, as well as being cautious of monsters and brigands. Fortunately, the backpack will be very handy, because the bigger it is, the better prepared you can be for the situations that arise. On the flipside, carrying lots of equipment could weigh heavily on you and therefore leaving you even more vulnerable to surprise attacks. Deciding upon how much to carry has as much importance as the choice of weapon or your chosen fighting style.
Furthermore, the map-reading skills you possess will be put to the test throughout this hardcore RPG while you explore the corners of Aurai with nothing but a backpack – it’s what you’d surely describe as the peak of adventuring. You can decide if you want to travel light or not, but you will have to make sure you are able to adapt to your environment. Aurai has four distinct regions that you will need to navigate with the help of your trusty compass, your map, and your own ability to locate landmarks. The game will certainly not do that for you. With preparation though, chances are you will be able to overcome most challenges thrown your way.
Outward is currently scheduled for release on 26th March, 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam. In the meantime, check out the Outward Dev Diary #2 for yourself…
