Dying isn’t the end in Fear The Timeloop. In fact, it’s the only way you’re going to learn what is really happening.

Now available on Xbox Series X|S and PC, this third-person survival horror game drops you into a mysterious hospital, gives you just fifteen minutes to live and then expects you to do something about it.

Fifteen Minutes Until Death

Fear The Timeloop wastes little time putting you in trouble. You’re hunting a relentless serial killer when you wake up inside Saint Heritage Hospital, carrying a grievous wound that will kill you in just fifteen minutes.

That’s only the beginning of your problems.

The hospital is crawling with bloodthirsty monsters, while mysterious figures surround the building and are more than willing to kill anyone who ventures outside. With nowhere obvious to turn, Sheriff’s deputy Rose Watters becomes your key ally as you attempt to work out what is happening.

The catch is that death doesn’t mean starting over from scratch.

Every Death Teaches You Something

When the clock runs out, you rise again with the memories of what happened before. That turns each attempt into another opportunity to learn, adapt and push further into the hospital.

The time loop isn’t simply a story device, either. It’s at the heart of the gameplay, with the knowledge gained during previous attempts helping you tackle the dangers ahead.

Neatly, Fear The Timeloop also gives you some freedom in how you approach its challenges. Its ability system can be tailored around your preferred playstyle, while branching dialogue means your early choices can influence how the story develops as you continue through the loop. There are also Metroidvania-inspired elements to the adventure. Previously inaccessible areas can become reachable as you unlock new abilities, giving you another reason to revisit locations and search for useful items.

Can You Break The Cycle?

At ÂŁ12.49, Fear The Timeloop offers an intriguing twist on the survival horror formula. Rather than simply trying to stay alive, every death becomes part of the process as you gradually build up the knowledge and abilities needed to go further.

With its fifteen-minute countdown, monsters, branching choices and mysterious hospital setting, there should be plenty to keep you wondering what lies around the next corner – particularly when you know that your next death might actually be progress.

Fear The Timeloop is available now on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support. The Xbox Store will deliver the download you need.
