Dino Land
Dino Land – out now on PC and console

There’s something charming about games that know exactly what they are – and Dino Land, out now on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC, is very much a love letter to a different era of gaming.

Revived from its early-1990s origins, this retro-pinball-meets-action adventure puts players behind a plucky, round-rolling hero determined to save the Jurassic wilds from chaos.

It’s a quirky little throwback that brings prehistoric nostalgia back to the modern screen.

A Prehistoric Quest With A Pinball Twist

In Dino Land, you follow “Dino” – a soft-hearted dinosaur who’s forced into action when his peaceful forest is attacked by far more brutal beasts. When his girlfriend Meeshell and his friends flee for their lives, Dino curls up, rolls out and takes on the enemy as a living, bouncing wrecking ball.

It’s a surprisingly energetic mix of action exploration and pinball physics, with each stage re-imagining what Earth might have looked like 200 million years ago – right across land, sea and sky.

The developers have packed in all the enhancements fans expect today. From screen filters that mimic CRT displays, through to save-state support, jukebox playback and even cheat toggles, Dino Land gives you enough tools to experience the game however you like – purist or modernised.

Dino Land doesn’t keep things grounded. Volcanic eruptions, tectonic shifts, sky-high storms and lava-drenched seas turn every stage into a bright, chaotic playground. It’s all backed by colourful pixel artwork and a soundtrack that leans wholeheartedly into the game’s vintage charm.

And if all this talk of dinosaurs has you thinking bigger? We recently praised Jurassic World Evolution 3 as “a roaring success for dino-management fans, and the best the series has offered yet” with a score of 4.5/5 – proof that prehistoric adventures are having a real moment.

Retro Revival, Prehistoric Heart

Dino Land doesn’t want to compete with today’s blockbuster dino titles – it simply wants to remind players of the joy of bouncing around a vibrant, unpredictable world with old-school charm. And at this price point, it’s an easy curiosity to pick up, whether you’re chasing nostalgia or discovering this lost classic for the first time.

Dino Land is available now on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, as well as PlayStation, Steam and Switch – if you’re ready to roll your way through a Jurassic adventure, Dino’s waiting.

Head over to the usual digital storefronts – Xbox Store, the PlayStation Store, the Nintendo eShop or Steam page.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
