Captured
Captured – now on Xbox

A terrifying first-person analog horror game that has been keeping PC and PlayStation players on edge has just locked its doors on the Xbox Store – CAPTURED.

CAPTURED, the latest from Perp Games, has launched today on Xbox. This unsettling experience, which already boasts “Very Positive” reviews on Steam, is now available on Xbox Series X|S for £5.99.

Prepare to be caught in a never-ending loop, exploring a procedurally generated endless hallway filled with unusual phenomena and ever-changing rooms, where your once-familiar home feels increasingly alien.

From PC Success to Console Terrors

While today marks its debut on Xbox, CAPTURED first launched on PC (Steam) over a year ago, and has also been available on PlayStation 5. In that time, it has built a dedicated following of horror fans, earning a coveted “Very Positive” review score for its chilling atmosphere and unique gameplay.

Now, a whole new audience on Xbox can finally get trapped in its horrifying loop.

The core of CAPTURED is its unique blend of analog horror and memory-based puzzle-solving. You are trapped in a never-ending loop within your own home, plunged in complete darkness. Your mission is to capture anomalies on camera to escape what seems to be an endless hallway.

You’ll need to use your camera to zoom in on suspicious changes and then correctly identify and classify them (Object, Electronic, Lighting, Water, Missing Room, or Deformed Room).

Memory is Key

Successfully capturing 13 anomalies is the key to breaking the loop. But beware: missing or incorrectly identifying any unusual phenomena within a loop will wipe your camera’s memory, forcing you to start over. This makes memory skills crucial to your survival.

You are not alone in this house. The hallway is filled with frightening entities, and you’ll need to survive encounters with three unique monsters, each with their own traits and mechanics. While silence may be a good tactic, staying too long within a loop could give away your location.

You must use your flashlight, camera, and the doors strategically to survive.

An Analog Horror Experience

CAPTURED immerses you in a nostalgic late ’90s aesthetic with realistic graphics, minimal UI, and a chilling atmosphere. The game features a dynamic camera system and immersive flashlight movement, all contributing to an authentic analog horror experience. It’s designed to evoke the eerie feeling of being trapped in a looping house, where every shadow might hide a new terror.

Your Survival Log

Here’s what you can expect from this new horror experience:

  • A First-Person Analog Horror Game: Trapped in a procedurally generated endless hallway, where your home feels increasingly alien.
  • Capture Anomalies on Camera: Use your camera to zoom in on suspicious changes and identify their type.
  • Memory-Based Puzzle Solving: Correctly capture 13 anomalies to escape the loop, but misidentifying them wipes your camera’s memory.
  • Survive Frightening Entities: Face three monsters, each with unique traits and mechanics, by using your flashlight, camera, and doors strategically.
  • “Very Positive” Steam Reviews: An acclaimed PC horror title makes its console debut.

The hallway is endless, and the anomalies are waiting. If you’re a fan of psychological horror, escape rooms, and memory-based puzzles, CAPTURED is ready for your investigation on the Xbox Store right now, playable on Xbox Series X|S.

Can you break the loop?

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
