Herdling – out now on Game Pass, Xbox, PlayStation and more

An emotional and atmospheric new adventure from some of the most acclaimed names in indie gaming has arrived on consoles and PC today, and it’s launching directly into Game Pass.

Herdling is the brand-new single-player adventure from Okomotive and Panic. This stunning alpine expedition is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

You can purchase the game for ÂŁ19.99, but the best news of all for Xbox and PC players is that Herdling is available from Day One with Game Pass.

A Grand Alpine Expedition

In Herdling, you will head out on a grand expedition with a herd of lovable, and occasionally troublesome, beasts called Calicorns. Your journey will take you up a winding mountain path as you encounter eerie dangers, surprising obstacles, and forge your way to the mystery waiting at the summit.

This is an emotional, wordless tale of trust, survival, and companionship during a great crossing through a fallen world.

The core of the gameplay is your interaction with the motley herd of Calicorns. You must guide and protect them as you traverse stunning mountainscapes, fog-wreathed forests, snowy plateaus, and forgotten valleys. You’ll need to hone your herding skills to navigate a wide range of challenges, threats, and light environmental puzzles that stand in your way.

The Rush of the Stampede

Your journey is not just a gentle stroll. You will also feel the rush of the mountain air alongside your herd in exhilarating and beautifully animated stampede sequences, as you race to escape danger or reach a new area.

From the Acclaimed Teams Behind FAR and Firewatch

The pedigree behind Herdling is what makes this launch so exciting for fans of unique, atmospheric indie games.

Developer Okomotive is the acclaimed team behind the beloved FAR series, having triumphantly launched FAR: Lone Sails and the critically acclaimed FAR: Changing Tides.

Alongside that, Panic has been a significant force in the indie scene for years, helping bring massive hits like Firewatch and the cultural phenomenon Untitled Goose Game (we still don’t know whether to thank them for that game or not!) into the world.

A Journey We’ve Been Waiting For

This is a title we’ve had our eye on since it was first revealed.

It was back in 2024 that we first caught a glimpse of this beautiful adventure when we reported on Herdling being a single-player adventure with a heart. Now, that heartfelt journey is finally here for all to experience.

“Herdling is very dear to us,” says Don Schmocker, Okomotive cofounder and creative director. “We really enjoyed working on it during the past years and can’t wait to see players having fun running around with the Calicorns and exploring the mountains!“
