A Brand-New Timeline To Explore
Rather than revisiting familiar arcs, Xenoverse 3 introduces players to AGE 1000, a fresh setting within the Dragon Ball universe.
At the heart of this new era is West City, a vibrant hub that will serve as the stage for unfolding events. Players will step into the role of a custom hero, joining the Great Saiyan Squad and shaping their own journey through a story that promises new characters, conflicts and surprises.
A Story-Led Dragon Ball Experience
While combat remains central, Xenoverse 3 is doubling down on its story-driven RPG elements.
Players will not just relive iconic moments. Instead, they will get to create their own fighter, interact with a new cast of characters, and take part in original storylines set in AGE 1000. The aim appears to be a more cohesive narrative experience, one that blends action with progression and player choice.
The Xenoverse series has always sat in a unique space between fighting game and RPG, and this new entry looks set to continue that approach.
That means you should expect some fast-paced, aerial combat, customisable abilities and transformations, and missions that mix solo play with cooperative elements.
The trailer tease hints at a world that feels larger and more alive, with improved visuals helping bring Toriyama’s designs to life once again.
Learning From The Past
Looking back, the original Dragon Ball Xenoverse laid the groundwork, even if it had its rough edges.
As we said in our review: “Dragon Ball Xenoverse is a game that fans will appreciate… but it’s the small things that the makers have forgotten about…”
Its sequel, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, refined that formula significantly. “If Xenoverse was Super Saiyan, then this transformation is akin to Super Saiyan 3!”
With Xenoverse 3 arriving ten years later, expectations are naturally much higher. Fans will be hoping this new entry keeps the scale and content of Xenoverse 2 while addressing the repetition and flow issues that held it back.
The Wait Begins
There is still plenty we do not know about Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, and Bandai Namco has confirmed that more details will arrive in the coming months. But even from this early reveal, it is clear that this is more than just another sequel. It is an opportunity to redefine what Xenoverse can be for a new generation of players.
And if AGE 1000 delivers on its promise, it could be the most exciting Dragon Ball journey in years.
