A World Left In Ruin
The fall of the black dragon Guernian should have been a victory. Instead, it marked the beginning of something far darker. A strange force known as Corruption now spreads across the land, twisting life into unnatural forms and leaving entire regions in fear. As an immortal warrior known as a Successor, your role is to trace the source of this spreading nightmare and push back against it.
Chosen by powerful gods, you arrive in Cliffshire with a clear goal. Cleanse the world, uncover the truth, and survive long enough to reach the heart of the Citadel. Simple in theory. Far less so in practice.
Dragon Is Dead leans heavily into roguelite design, meaning no two runs play out quite the same. Levels shift, enemy placements change, and loot varies with each attempt. Progress comes through repetition, learning enemy patterns, and gradually building strength over time.
And that death is part of the process. When you fall, temporary buffs and gold are lost, but your core progress remains. Gear, runes and upgrades carry forward, giving each new run a slightly stronger foundation.
Combat That Demands Precision
At its heart, Dragon Is Dead is a fast and unforgiving action platformer.
Dodging, timing and positioning are essential. Enemies hit hard, bosses hit harder, and success often comes down to reading patterns and reacting quickly. It is not about button-mashing your way through encounters. It is about control.
The addition of multiple classes adds further depth. Whether you prefer the spellcasting versatility of the Spellblade, the raw aggression of the Berserker or the distance-focused Hunter, each approach brings a different way to tackle the same challenges.
A Cult Favourite Finds A New Audience
Having already built a following on PC with mostly positive player feedback, Dragon Is Dead now steps onto consoles with a chance to reach a wider audience.
Its mix of dark fantasy storytelling, tight platforming and roguelite progression is not designed to be easy. But for players who enjoy mastering systems and overcoming steep challenges, there is plenty here to dig into.
For some, Dragon is Dead will be frustrating. For others, it will be exactly the kind of challenge they are looking for. Either way, one thing is clear. The dragon may be dead, but the fight is only just beginning.
