Whilst it may mean we have to occasionally wait a few months to get hands-on, the power of Xbox Game Pass does mean that us Xbox players get access to a host of games without any fuss nor bother. And when new games drop into the scheme on Day One, it makes the whole subscription model feel even more appreciated. That’s the case with Dreamscaper as it breaks out of the PC and Nintendo Switch shackles to launch on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S – playable Day One on Game Pass.
Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S (or just freely download via Game Pass if that’s your bag), Dreamscaper from Freedom Games has built up a decent little reputation for itself over the last few months. See, low-80 scores on Metacritic for both previous versions – Nintendo Switch and PC – point to this being a game which is well worthy of your time, as it takes you through an endlessly replayable action roguelike affair in which your main priority will be the harnessing of the ever-revolving waking/dreaming gameplay cycle.
Priced at £20.99 or free through Game Pass, with full next-gen optimisation in place, Smart Delivery allowing you to be playing the best version no matter what your system AND Xbox Play Anywhere giving opportunity to run this on Xbox or PC, Dreamscaper should well be of interest.
Diving deep into the subconscious, Dreamscaper will provide you with an ever-changing world of nightmares; a world full to the brim with items, with challenges and with the chance to use special abilities. And much like in Dying Light 2 Stay Human, working your way through the relative calm of the day will allow you to tackle the night all the stronger.
Throw in a combat system which promises to be deep, a host of foes and opponents which work on the inner-madness of the mind and the chance to eventually overcome the nightmares it brings, if you’re up for something that is sure to immerse from start to finish, Dreamscaper should be for you.
We’ll be tackling this one as soon as time allows so stay tuned for a full review in the coming days. If you wish to play it for yourself, then you’ll find the Xbox Store is capable of delivering the download you need. It’s playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and through PC, with Game Pass pick up the optimum course to take.
