Alaskan Road Truckers come to Xbox and PlayStation with the Highway Edition

6000 miles of highway await, as do 15 trucks and 4 DLC packs. But in what? Well, that’ll be the launch of Alaskan Road Truckers: Highway Edition on Xbox and PlayStation.

Available right now on console for the very first time is Alaskan Road Truckers: Highway Edition. This comes on the back of a previous PC launch, rolling out to the highways of Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 with tons of content included. Unfortunately, you won’t be playing this one on Xbox One or PS4.

Hit the roads of Alaska

If you are fully current-gen’d up, then Alaskan Road Truckers: Highway Edition promises much. There’s the Alaskan wilderness for one, and a ton of driving front and centre. But where this differs from other trucking and driving games is in the survival and management options that are thrown in. Yep, you’ll need to keep an eye on both your own personal wellbeing, as well as that of your truck. Fixing things up, looking sharp should be a main focus.

But obviously many are going to fall of Alaskan Road Truckers: Highway Edition on the promise of that Alaskan world. It’s here where Green Man Gaming, Road Studio and Move Games come together to allow you the chance to shift into high gear with 260,000 square miles of game map. That equates to 6000 miles of roadway, 6 base trucks, a couple of special trucks, 12 playable characters and more than 50 truck cosmetics.

How do that all come together? Well, our full review of Alaskan Road Truckers: Highway Edition on Xbox Series X|S is up, live and ready for your perusal. As is our exclusive interview with those behind the game.

Green Man Gaming CMO, Ian McGregor, said, “Alaskan Road Truckers has been our publishing label’s biggest challenge to date, and is certainly our most rewarding. What Road Studio has produced is testament to their skill and dedication, and our community has played an important part in helping to guide us to this point. We couldn’t be more proud.”

Michał Puczyński, Road Studios CEO, said, “This has been a wonderful experience so far, full of effort and passion from a talented team who love what they do. Putting it in the player’s hands is the best part of the journey and we’re thrilled to bring our mix of simulation, survival and management to PlayStation and Xbox gamers, and I hope they continue to share their stories with us.”

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
