Formula Legends – it’s lights out!

The playfully reimagined history of the world’s premier motorsport has just been given the green light on console and PC as Formula Legends takes to the grid.

Formula Legends, the new sim-cade racer from developer and publisher 3DClouds, has officially launched today. This journey through the sport’s most iconic eras is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5, and Nintendo Switch for £16.74, and comes with full Xbox Play Anywhere support.

Prepare to experience the evolution of open-wheel racing in a beautifully stylized world, where arcade-like approachability meets deep simulation-inspired gameplay.

A Journey Through Racing History

At its heart, Formula Legends is a celebration of the last 60 years of open-wheel motorsport. In the game’s Story Mode, you can relive the defining moments of Formula racing, conquering era-based championships, mastering classic machines, and carving your own name into motorsport history.

You’ll race with a cast of fictional drivers, each inspired by real-world legends and equipped with their own unique skill perks, from tire whisperers to wet-weather masters.

Drive Through Time

Formula Legends perfectly captures its easy-to-pick-up, hard-to-master philosophy. You can slide into the cockpit of 16 legendary cars, each inspired by iconic designs from the 1960s to the modern day. You’ll then get to race them across 14 evolving circuits, which are inspired by historic locations but have been reimagined with bold, fresh twists for fast-paced, wheel-to-wheel competition.

Underneath the attractive and colourful exterior lies a deep, simulation-inspired gameplay engine. You’ll need more than just raw speed to win. You must manage tyre-wear, fuel consumption, and damage simulation. You’ll also need to contend with changeable weather conditions and make strategic pit stops, all while fine-tuning your racecraft, from battery management to slipstreaming, to chase that perfect lap.

Your Race, On Any Circuit

Formula Legends is an Xbox Play Anywhere title. This fantastic feature means your racing career can continue, no matter which pit wall you’re sitting on.

A single digital purchase on the Xbox Store for £16.74 unlocks the game for you on both your Xbox console and your Windows PC. All of your unlocked championships and Time Attack records are synced via the cloud, so you can seamlessly switch between platforms.

You can set a new lap record on your PC, then jump over to your Xbox to defend it against the global leaderboards without ever losing your pole position.

From Announcement to the Starting Grid

The refreshing approach of Formula Legends has already attracted a strong following. It was earlier this year that we first got wind of this new title, heralding an arcade racing renaissance as Formula Legends was announced for Xbox and more.

Since then, the game has boasted over 200,000 demo downloads and over 100,000 wishlists across all platforms, showing a huge appetite for this new style of racer. Developer 3DClouds has also released a detailed post-release roadmap, confirming new DLCs and a brand-new historical era in response to fan feedback.

We’ve all poured our hearts and souls into Formula Legends’ development,” said Francesco Bruschi, CEO of 3DClouds. “We have been blown away by the positive response to the game from media, content creators and players, with launch being just the next step for us.”

“We’ve designed Formula Legends to be fully mod-able – from the smallest in-game livery logo to entire car models and more,” Bruschi added. “The PC version of Formula Legends can be easily decompiled and recompiled allowing the community to mod, tweak and create whatever they want and share their efforts with others. We can’t wait to see what they create!”
