We’ve been holding out on Dungeon Defenders: Awakened since way back in 2019, but now with a year of chaos behind us we finally get the chance to work our tower defense magic once more.
Dungeon Defenders: Awakened follows on from the release of Dungeon Defenders II from 2017, but this time around forgoes the previous free-to-play option in favour of a more rounded feel. Mixing in the usual tower defense mechanics that we have grown to love/loathe (feel free to delete as appropriate), with some epic action RPG elements, and we’ve got a game here that looks to build on the sum of its parts.
Priced at £24.99, Dungeon Defenders: Awakened will have you trying to save your Eternia Crystals from the forces of evil, with you either able to take on foes alone, or to team up with up to 3 friends in online cooperative gameplay. However you decide to go about it, tactics, strategies and a helping of good luck is key to finding any form of success here, with waves upon waves of enemy folk readying themselves to take you, and your crystal, down.
A Campaign mode is the bread and butter of the action and it is here where you’ll learn the skills needed to be seen as a successful Dungeon Defender. With loot aplenty, upgrades kicking around for near everything you can touch, and the chance to get up close and personal with your own fighter should you wish, this has exactly what you need.
There are other modes too though – a Survival mode and challenge maps are par for the course.

- Craft Your Build: Craft a unique strategy using an arsenal of unique defenses to choose how you attain victory.
- Epic Loot: An infinite number of loot combinations to build your own unique character.
- Character Customization: Change the look of your character, weapons, and accessories with our Transmog system.
