Back To Where The Madness Began

For a series now synonymous with sending a lone warrior charging into an army, DYNASTY WARRIORS 3 occupies a rather important place in the history of the franchise.

The remaster brings back more than 40 officers from the original game, allowing players to step into the shoes of familiar faces from the Three Kingdoms period and take on huge battles across recreated battlefields.

It was also the game that introduced several features that would become staples of the DYNASTY WARRIORS series, including True Musou Attacks, two-player simultaneous play and the officer development system. It was also the first DYNASTY WARRIORS title to sell more than one million copies. Must be pretty good then, eh!?

Two Classics In One Package

This isn’t simply a prettier version of the 2001 release. DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered combines the original game with DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Xtreme Legends, bringing both parts of the classic package together.

Xtreme Legends adds new stories for seven officers, including Lu Bu, Meng Huo and Yuan Shao, alongside new weapons, bodyguard customisation and four challenge modes.

The remaster also adds new scenarios featuring numerous officers, giving returning players something new to discover alongside the familiar battles.

Same Chaos, Sharper Presentation

The original battlefields and characters have been recreated using Unreal Engine 5, while the game also features refined graphics and controls.

That means the familiar spectacle of fighting through enormous enemy forces gets a modern presentation without losing sight of what made DYNASTY WARRIORS 3 such an important game for the series.

Offline two-player co-op also returns, so there’s still room for a second warrior to join the carnage.

What’s In The Digital Deluxe Edition?

The Digital Deluxe Edition costs ÂŁ57.99, while the ÂŁ26.99 Deluxe Edition Upgrade adds the same additional content to the main game.

That includes 42 retro costumes based on the original DYNASTY WARRIORS 3, with costumes for the complete character roster. There are also additional items, including a Wind Scroll, Tiger Amulet and Six Secret Teachings, plus 42 weapons that can be used as synthesis materials.

Rounding things off is an Officer Concept Art Collection, featuring original DYNASTY WARRIORS 3 artwork and producer comments.

A Very Different Battlefield From 2001

For anyone who remembers the original DYNASTY WARRIORS 3, seeing it return like this is quite the trip back to the early days of the franchise. For everyone else, this remaster provides a chance to experience one of the games that helped establish the formula that KOEI TECMO would build on for years to come.

DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered is now available in Standard Edition form for ÂŁ32.99 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC, with the Digital Deluxe Edition and its additional content available for those wanting to take even more of the classic battlefield with them.

The armies are waiting.
