The thought of EA allowing access to a collection of great games for under $5/£4 is one of those deals that makes you think, is there a catch?Well at the moment it certainly doesn’t seem so, for $4.99/£3.99 a month you will gain access to a Vault containing a back catalogue of Xbox One games that will be added to over time. There are only four games in there at the moment for the beta (Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, Peggle 2 and Madden NFL 25) but if you have an EA Access subscription then you can download any and all of these anytime.
There’s also two other perks of being an EA Access member. “Play for Less” means an exclusive 10% discount on EA digital purchases on Xbox One, the discount could be off any of the following games – Madden NFL 15, Madden Ultimate Team, Battlefield 4, Battlefield 4 Premium, FIFA 15, FIFA Ultimate Team, EA SPORTS UFC, Need for Speed Rivals, Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, Peggle 2 and NBA LIVE 14. (With more titles to become eligible in the future)
The final perk is “Play First” which is the ability to download upcoming EA games five days before they launch and can play them for a limited time. Some of the games on their way are FIFA 15, Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, NBA Live 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. This is ideal for getting a hands-on to help make that purchasing decision a bit easier.
When we hear of a concrete date for the beta and actual launch we’ll be sure to let you know, stay tuned.
Update: Preview members will have had access to the EA Vault for a little while already, however it is now rolling out to the rest of us. Keep an eye out for it on your dashboard soon. Perhaps it’s there already!?
