EA FC 27 Ultimate Edition Cover Star – Kylian Mbappe

Fresh from another unforgettable summer on the international stage, EA SPORTS FC 27 has revealed its cover athlete – and it’s a familiar face. Kylian Mbappé will front the Ultimate Edition of EA SPORTS FC 27, marking his return to the franchise’s cover after a four-year absence and his first appearance since the EA SPORTS FC branding replaced FIFA.

The announcement comes just days after the latest FIFA World Cup reached its dramatic conclusion, with football once again dominating headlines around the globe. Now, attention shifts from the biggest tournament in the sport to the biggest football game of the year, as EA begins lifting the curtain on FC 27.

Mbappé Returns To Football Gaming’s Biggest Stage

While Kylian Mbappé has become one of football’s defining stars over the past decade, this marks the first time he has appeared on the cover under the EA SPORTS FC name.

Having previously featured during the FIFA era, the French superstar now becomes the face of FC 27 following another remarkable spell at club and international level.

Since joining Real Madrid in 2024, Mbappé has continued to add silverware and individual honours to an already glittering career, finishing as LaLiga’s top scorer in each of his first two seasons while also claiming the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Golden Boot after netting 15 goals. His performances over the summer on the international stage only reinforced his reputation as one of the world’s elite players, making him an unsurprising choice to headline EA’s biggest football release.

Speaking about the announcement, Mbappé said: “To be featured on the cover of an EA SPORTS FC title for the first time is a very special moment for me. It’s an honour to continue my long-term relationship with the franchise in its latest chapter, alongside the players who have shaped its history. I can’t wait for everyone to experience FC 27.“

“We’re thrilled to welcome Kylian back to the franchise as the cover star of EA SPORTS FC 27,” said Jeff Sharma, Vice President, Franchise Strategy and Marketing at EA SPORTS FC. “Kylian’s achievements for both club and country have established him as one of the defining players of his generation. He embodies the ambition, creativity and global appeal that defines EA SPORTS FC today, and we’re proud to continue our partnership with him as he returns to lead EA SPORTS FC 27.”

The Build-Up To FC 27 Begins

The cover reveal is only the opening whistle for EA SPORTS FC 27’s marketing campaign.

EA has confirmed that this announcement kicks off an entire week of reveals, beginning with the first gameplay trailer, which premieres on July 23rd. That showcase is expected to offer the first proper look at this year’s gameplay refinements, new features and changes across the franchise’s popular modes.

With Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Clubs and online competition all expected to return, football fans won’t have to wait long before learning exactly what’s new.

Plenty To Live Up To

EA SPORTS FC has enjoyed a strong run since replacing the FIFA branding, and expectations will once again be high for this year’s entry.

We certainly enjoyed last year’s outing, awarding EA SPORTS FC 26 a 4.5/5 review score. Summing up our thoughts, we said: “There are new and subtle changes to Ultimate Team and Clubs, whilst the Authentic mode feels like a different experience and gives the career option a different lease of life… EA FC 26 is frustrating at times, but there is nothing else that can beat it, and no competition that can deliver such a well crafted experience of football.“

With Mbappé now confirmed as the face of the game and more announcements arriving throughout the week, the road to kick-off for EA SPORTS FC 27 is officially underway.
