There’s no doubting that EA hit a hole-in-one when they released EA SPORTS PGA TOUR to the world. We’d go as far as to say it’s the best golf game currently on the market. But that doesn’t mean it is perfect and the team behind it have promised to continue updating and improving as the days progress. Today we see Update 2.0 hit EA SPORTS PGA TOUR – and this one brings about the much requested 3-click swing system and more.

Should you be looking for a golf game to play, we’d urge you to drop your money the way of EA. EA SPORTS PGA TOUR is, in  our eyes, the finest golf game on the market, playable on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. In fact, as our comparison piece states, it blows the likes of PGA TOUR 2K23 out of the water, with stunning presentation, a huge range of course and a great mix of simulation and arcade gameplay elements.

But it’s not perfect and so improvements are sure to come.

Today those improvements come in the form of Update 2.0 as EA look to solidify things, with a healthy feature fix in place.

Front and centre is the arrival of the 3-click swing system, something that many have been calling for, but then there are also new settings available to how things are presented, letting you run Fast Play, work the putting meter and more. There are improvements to the green grids too, fixes for the cameras and more. Oh, and if you’ve been finding issues playing EA SPORTS PGA TOUR online, that should be fixed now too.

In all, the following run as Update 2.0 patch highlights for EA SPORTS PGA TOUR on Xbox, PlayStation and PC…

  • Addition of 3-click swing feature
  • New Presentation settings added
    • Fast Play: skips player reaction and putting walk up NIS automatically for a faster presentation experience
    • Putt Meter: turns on/off the putt meter visibility
    • Button Hints: turns on/off button hint displayed in the bottom of the screen during gameplay
  • Green grid improvements: In order to help with ball visibility and also responding to player feedback, after the ball is hit the green grid now quickly fades out
  • Improved accuracy on green grid beads to flow more accurately on the green, including Augusta hole 16
  • PC mouse support added
  • Camera fixes: For unplayable lie animations when camera was placed in areas that blocked visibility
  • Cup resized: Reducing the size of the cup so it maps to the physics model 1:1 and players don’t see the ball roll past when it looks like it should lip in
  • Unified messaging allowing players to view frequent updates via content feature panel in the main menu
  • Shot types screen added in Pause menu – explaining all different shot types
  • Store content added – Including hats, shoes, drivers and more
  • Shot types explanation graphic added to Pause Menu
  • Fixing Online issue: Backing out of Event info Screen while a countdown is in progress will load the users in a wrong course the next time they matchmake

Fire up the game today and you should be finding these improvements. And of course, if you have yet to purchase and play EA SPORTS PGA TOUR, you can do so by heading to the digital store of your choosing. We’ll point you to the Xbox Store for Xbox play.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
