Easy Red 2- Shanghai – Nanking DLC now available

Easy Red 2, the large-scale WWII shooter from solo developer Marco Amadei, continues its global campaign expansion with the arrival of a brand-new theatre of war, the Shanghai – Nanking DLC.

The Easy Red 2: Shanghai – Nanking DLC is available now for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, taking players to the intense conflict between China and Japan in 1937.

Priced at just ÂŁ4.99, this expansion requires the base game, Easy Red 2, to play.

Fight for Shanghai and Nanking

This DLC plunges players into the Second Sino-Japanese War, focusing on China’s offensive to reclaim Shanghai and the subsequent battles spreading towards Nanking. Key features include:

  • New Campaign & Faction: Engage in a 23-mission campaign set across iconic locations like Shanghai, Luodian, Baoshan, Wusong, Suzhou Creek, the Yuhuatai hills, and the city of Nanjing itself. This expansion introduces the Chinese faction complete with new voiceovers.
  • New Uniforms: Outfit your soldiers with authentic gear, including new Chinese and Japanese uniforms, totalling over 70 new clothing items.
  • New Vehicles & Aircraft: Command or combat a range of new hardware, such as the A4N, Hawk-3, Type 24 HMG, Type 89 tank, Chinese versions of the P40, I16, T26, and Panzer I, the Vickers Crossley armoured car, and more.
  • New Weapons: Arm yourself with period-accurate weaponry like the Type 24 rifle (Chiang Kai-shek rifle), Hanyang 88, Zb 26 machine gun, Chinese MP18, SIG Neuhausen KE7 (SIG20), FN Type D BAR, and others.
  • Map Editor Assets: Enhance your custom scenarios with over 100 new props and buildings specifically designed for the Mission and Map Editor.

Just the Beginning

Developer Corvostudio di Amadei Marco emphasises that this DLC marks only the start for this theatre. Players can expect ongoing updates and improvements, with promises of exciting future additions like new weapons, vehicles, uniforms, and missions for the Shanghai – Nanking setting.

Expanding the Battlefield

Easy Red 2 has steadily grown since its initial console launch, offering players large maps, squad-based combat, and a focus on historical authenticity across various fronts.

As we covered back in 2024 when the base game and multiple other expansions arrived on Xbox, the game provides a distinct alternative in the WWII shooter space. The addition of the Second Sino-Japanese War front further broadens its scope.

If you’re an Easy Red 2 player looking to experience a different, often overlooked theatre of WWII, the Shanghai – Nanking DLC offers a substantial amount of new content for a low price.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.

People who bought it are disappointed because the DLC doesn’t register with the game. It tells you to buy the DLC in which you already did. Meanwhile it’s totally unplayable until a patch is sent out. Read the reviews in the Xbox store
