EBOLA VILLAGE Creeps Onto PC & Consoles – A 90s-Inspired Horror Nightmare Begins

EBOLA VILLAGE brings classic survival horror to Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch with an atmospheric first-person nightmare

If your idea of a good time involves creaking floorboards, unsettling silence, and the creeping sense that something is very wrong, EBOLA VILLAGE is ready to test your nerves.

Available now for £16.74 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, this is a modern horror experience built firmly on the foundations laid by the genre’s 1990s greats.

Drawing heavy inspiration from classic survival horror, EBOLA VILLAGE drops players into a bleak, isolated settlement where answers are scarce, danger is everywhere, and the past refuses to stay buried.

A Quiet Evening Turns Very Wrong

The story centres on Maria, whose night in front of the TV is abruptly shattered by a breaking news report detailing a biological threat. Fearing for her family, she travels to a remote village to check on her mother and ex-husband, Ruslan.

That decision proves to be a grave one.

What begins as a personal journey quickly spirals into something far darker, as Maria becomes entangled in a web of disturbing events and long-hidden secrets tied to the village itself.

Horror Rooted In Atmosphere

Rather than relying on cheap scares, EBOLA VILLAGE focuses on mood and tension. The oppressive setting, eerie sound design, and careful pacing all work together to keep players constantly on edge, creating that familiar feeling survival horror fans know all too well – the one where you’re never quite sure what’s around the next corner.

Exploration plays a major role as you piece together the village’s history, uncovering clues that shed light on what’s really happening and who may be responsible. The first-person perspective keeps everything uncomfortably close, making each discovery feel personal and each threat far more immediate.

While clearly inspired by the survival horror classics of the past, EBOLA VILLAGE modernises the formula just enough to keep it feeling fresh, blending investigative gameplay with a strong narrative drive and immersive environmental storytelling.

Is EBOLA VILLAGE on Game Pass?

Perhaps the only (well not only, but you get the idea) downside of EBOLA VILLAGE is that it does not land in Game Pass at launch. Perhaps that will change down the line, but for now, you’ll need to rip open the wallet to get access to this horror.

A Chilling New Arrival For Horror Fans

Published by Axyos Games and developed by Indie Games Studio, EBOLA VILLAGE feels purpose-built for players who miss the deliberate pacing and suffocating tension of old-school survival horror.

Our full review of EBOLA VILLAGE on Xbox is on the way, but if you’re in the mood for something unsettling, story-heavy, and unapologetically grim, this is one village you might regret visiting – but won’t forget in a hurry.

For those brave enough, a launch trailer is also available now, offering a disturbing glimpse of what awaits inside the village. And of course, the usual digital storefronts will provide the download you need, like that of the Xbox Store.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
