Think of the classic Snake game. Now imagine having to solve a proper puzzle with it. That’s essentially the idea behind Eden Coil, a top-down puzzler that takes the familiar business of guiding a snake towards an apple and gives it a clever extra complication.
Already available on PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation, Eden Coil has now arrived on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, giving Xbox players the chance to see just how complicated controlling a snake can become. And it launches alongside Radiation Caterpillar too.

Snake, But Make It A Puzzle
Each level presents a snake, some apples and a route that needs to be figured out. Getting from one point to another isn’t necessarily about speed, though – it’s about understanding the space and working out the correct sequence of moves.
As you progress, Eden Coil introduces new rules that make those seemingly straightforward journeys increasingly tricky. The levels are carefully designed around the game’s movement mechanics, meaning a route that looks obvious can quickly prove to be anything but.
And then there are the extra snakes.
The Other Snakes Aren’t Going Anywhere
Some stages give you multiple snakes. You can switch between them, but only the currently selected snake moves. The others remain asleep in their positions.
That might sound like a limitation, but it’s actually one of the game’s most important puzzle mechanics. That’s because a sleeping snake can block a path or be positioned deliberately to help you solve a level. Instead of thinking solely about where your active snake needs to go, you’ll have to consider where all of them should be.
A Simple Idea With More To It
The controls and rules are easy to grasp, but finding the right solution is where the challenge lies. With the multiple-snake stages in particular, a move made several steps earlier can determine whether the rest of the puzzle falls neatly into place or leaves you completely stuck.
That should make this one worth keeping an eye on for puzzle fans who enjoy games that gradually reveal more depth without burying the player in complicated systems.
