Elite is a game that has expanded and evolved massively over the years, and whilst today’s Elite Dangerous offering is far removed from the original which kicked it all off decades ago, the basic structure is still there. Now though Elite Dangerous is getting better still, with the Horizons expansion being stripped of the usual price tag to go free to all.

Available right now for free, Elite Dangerous Horizons joins the base game to allow Elite players to take in planetary landings, the chance to roam in surface recon vehicles, and to travel seamlessly from space to the surface of accurately simulated planets.

Previously sitting behind a £19.99 price tag in the Horizons Season Pass, Horizons merges into the base game of Elite Dangerous on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, with those who had previously purchased the expansion given access to an exclusive Azure paint job for all ships in game – that’s ALL 41 ships.

No matter who you are though, as long as you have a copy of Elite Dangerous to hand, then Horizons will now be yours. And further to the opportunity to check out everything that Dangerous’ full-scale Milky Way contains, Horizons also features multicrew joint operations, weapon crafting, ship-launched fighters, permission to land at many surface star ports and other locations, as well as access to the coveted services of the elusive Engineers, offering countless new gameplay opportunities for all Commanders.

If you haven’t yet got involved in Elite Dangerous and wish to know what all the fuss is about, we highly advise you give it a shot – you’ll find it available from the Xbox Store for just £19.99. If you do you’ll find access to your very own fleet of starships as you travel through the most cutthroat of galaxies in an attempt to stand tall with the ranks of the Elite. But what happens from there on out is totally up to you; your actions change the galaxy around you forevermore.

With Elite Dangerous: Odyssey due to drop in early 2021, bringing with it another huge expansion, there is possibly no better time than now to hyper-jump straight in to Elite Dangerous. Let us know how your adventure unfolds by posting in the comments.
