Emergency Room Simulator Launches On Xbox, PlayStation And PC

Some games ask you to save the world. Emergency Room Simulator is a little more concerned with saving the person lying in front of you.

Now available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, the medical simulation from Aerosoft and Caipirinha Games puts you behind the desk, into the trauma bay and, when things go badly, right in the middle of a life-or-death emergency.

Priced at ÂŁ24.99, Emergency Room Simulator aims to make the hospital environment feel like more than a collection of menus and minigames. You’ll question patients, assess symptoms, order tests, study the results and decide what needs to happen next. Sometimes you’ll have time to think. Sometimes you really won’t.

Your Shift Starts With A Patient

Emergency medicine isn’t simply about knowing what treatment to apply. Before you can do that, you need to work out what is actually wrong, and that’s where Emergency Room Simulator places much of its focus. Patients need to be questioned and examined before you can start piecing together the evidence. You’ll listen to paramedic briefings, ask targeted questions, perform visual examinations and record your findings in patient charts.

When the symptoms aren’t enough to give you an answer, diagnostic equipment comes into play. CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds, ECGs and blood tests can all help narrow down the possibilities.

The challenge is deciding which tests are worth running and what the results actually mean, rather than simply throwing every available medical procedure at every patient.

When The ER Gets Serious

Not every shift will be a quiet exercise in medical detective work. Emergency Room Simulator is designed to move between calmer patient care and situations where hesitation can have serious consequences. A patient may need medication, a wound stitched or an injury treated with the appropriate equipment. In more critical situations, you’ll have to perform emergency procedures such as CPR while attempting to keep the patient alive.

The game also gives players responsibility for prioritising their workload. You’re the doctor, so deciding which diagnosis to investigate first and which patient requires attention becomes part of the challenge.

The setting itself is another important part of the experience. Emergency Room Simulator takes place inside a detailed hospital environment filled with medical equipment and the tools required to deal with its various cases.

It’s also a game that appears to understand that emergency medicine isn’t permanently set to maximum drama. There are quieter moments between the crises, giving you time to investigate cases, document findings and prepare for whatever arrives next.

Ready For Your First Shift?

Emergency Room Simulator is now available for ÂŁ24.99 on Xbox Series X|S (via the Xbox Store), PlayStation 5 and PC, giving aspiring doctors a chance to find out whether they can keep their heads when the waiting room starts filling up.

It certainly isn’t promising an easy shift. With patients to investigate, diagnoses to make and emergencies capable of turning everything upside down, this is one hospital where sitting around hoping for a quiet day probably isn’t going to work.
